MONICA CROWLEY (GUEST): Eisenhower warned against the threat of the military-industrial complex, what we now call the deep state. What most people don't know is that in Nixon's second term, Steve, he was going to do exactly what we are going to do in Trump's second term, which is smash the administrative state. He had the plan in place, the person who inspired it to him was his dear friend Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Democrat of New York, who said to him every generation the entire executive brand needs to be pulled up root and branch, razed to the ground, totally reformed, because otherwise you get entrenched corruption. And we have not had that literally since the end of World War II, when the executive branch was remade with the national security counsel.

STEVE BANNON (HOST): You're going to stick around in the second hour. The reason they hated Nixon, because Nixon, even more than McCarthy, really went after the communists. I mean, McCarthy did a fantastic — Senator McCarthy did a fantastic job, but they hated Nixon from that moment on.
