Executive Travel Aide

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Executive Travel Aide is a key member of Media Matters' Executive Department and is the primary team member that provides support to the President/CEO during business-related travel. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of articulate oral and written communication skills as well as impeccable people skills. The incumbent will have the ability to effectively represent the organization, and the CEO to high-level clients and external contacts, operate confidently and discreetly around high-profile individuals and in high-pressure situations and will provide administrative and logistical support. In addition, will maintain a high degree of confidentiality, tact and professionalism at all times. A self-starting and results-oriented work style is critical in this role, as is the ability to solve problems effectively and quickly in rapidly changing environments. A demonstrated ability to anticipate and address problems before they arise is a must, as is a familiarity with and desire to learn more about media issues and how those issues impact policy and politics in Washington. Demonstrated experience doing advance work is a plus.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general administrative, logistical and situational problem-solving support to the President/CEO during business travel;
  • When not traveling, provide support to the Assistant to the President/CEO as necessary and to the Project Manager;
  • Compile materials necessary for the President/CEO for business travel;
  • Conduct research on a variety of issues of importance and relevance to the President/CEO;
  • Perform special projects and other duties as necessary and/or assigned.

COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Proven and highly effective organizational and communication (both written and oral) skills;
  • Experience in conducting and compiling research utilizing the Internet and Lexis-Nexis preferred;
  • Current driver's license and clean driving record required;
  • Professional, pleasant conduct and high degree of maintaining confidentiality required;
  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities; sensitivity to working under tight deadlines;
  • Commitment to the organizational mission and ideology in order to effectively promote and advance the goals of MMFA;
  • Ability to excel in a team-based, participatory environment as well as work autonomously; good sense of humor a plus.
