Why does CNN employ Alex Castellanos (Part XIV)?

Alex Castellanos is a Republican strategist best known for making Jesse Helms' "Hands" ad. He is reportedly advising the McCain campaign. Somewhat inexplicably, then, CNN has hired him as a contributor. One of his early "contributions" was suggesting Hillary Clinton would poison Barack Obama. Another was suggesting it was accurate to call Clinton a "bitch."
At his new blog today, former Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson caught Castellanos comparing Clinton to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.
