I've "heard" that CBS was going to hire a detective to try to get to the bottom of where the documents came from and perhaps how accurate they were, but....CBS changed its mind for no good reason.

And that supposedly independent panel showed about as much investigative skill as a child looking for his cough medicine. They couldn't even find other military memorandums from around the time of the Killian memos for comparison (if they did, they might have discovered that the signature block for memorandums is on the right, and NOT on the left as they asserted in the report, and that most memos from the early 70's and earlier are proportionally printed, which fell out of favor later on.)
