Is this really the week for Rupert Murdoch to be critiquing the press?

In light of the extraordinarily embarrassing revelation that employees of Murdoch's newspapers in the U.K. allegedly engaged in criminal activity in pursuit of news stories, including hiring private investigators to hack into private phones, you'd think Murdoch would lay low. Or at least not lecture people about journalism for a few days.

But not Rupert.

At a Sun Valley, Idaho media summit this week, Murdoch took a shot at the U.S. press and claimed journalists were “very supportive” of Obama. Whether they're hiring private investigators, Murdoch did not say.
