at the end there, sanchez basically admitted that the press was afraid to ask important questions about the war because they were afraid of being criticized and called unpatriotic; he says it like that isn't a huge glaring problem in and of itself. the lead up to a war, is exactly when the press needs to grow a pair and ask the questions that people's lives litterally depend on, and call out those who use trumped up faux outrage to stop being from asking those important questions. so according to sanchez, because it's the economy this time around, the press feels free to harp on all kinds of things, a lot of it inconsequential to the very serious realities of the economic crisis, and that's somehow justifiable? the whole thing makes my head hurt.
