It's like GOP Reefer Madness, cont'd

Oh, like a firm White House statement about how Obama is not in favor of reinstating the Fairness Doctrine is going to stop the chattering masses on the right from claiming, y'know, Obama is in favor of it

After all, there is no more pressing issue facing our nation today than debating a long-forgotten FCC statute that hasn't been on the book for two decades, right?

Agreeing with your second paragraph, so why are prominent Democratic senators calling for it to be reinstated according to the link?

Are you going to ignore who is bringing up the issue in the first place and instead focus on the response?

Rush Limbaugh's opinion column in the Wall Street Journal on Friday blames "Mr. President, Keep the Airwaves Free" warns of the threat of the "Fairness Doctrine" to talk radio.  Then why did Rush file a lawsuit claiming that the conservative Legal Affairs Council was defrauding conservative donors by warning of a threat from the "Fairness Doctrine"  to Rush and all talk radio?

In the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, Rush Limbaugh v. Legal Affairs Council, Case No. 1:00CV02711, Rush Limbaugh claimed, among other things, that  the Fairness Doctrine presented no threat to Rush Limbaugh and it was fraudulent to tell conservative donors that Rush Limbaugh was in any danger from the Fairness Doctrine.  LAC settled the lawsuit promising not to claim that Rush Limbaugh was in any danger from the Fairness Doctrine.
