VIDEO: Tell CNBC the economy is no game…

Tell CNBC the economy is no game…

Yesterday, I noted that Media Matters president Eric Burns had joined prominent writers, economists, journalism professors and other progressive leaders in signing a letter demanding CNBC take substantial steps towards fixing their broken network. If you haven’t yet seen the letter be sure to check it out here.

Today, Media Matters is up with a new video (also available on YouTube or QuickTime) and a call to action:

In today’s call to action, Burns writes in part:

Rather than fulfill its crucial role as a journalistic outlet seeking the truth, CNBC instead abdicated its responsibility to the American people in favor of years of uncritical repetition of spin by Wall Street CEOs. This denied the public accurate information about the causes of the current economic crisis, its consequences, and the effectiveness of proposed solutions.

>> Sign the petition and demand CNBC stop acting like a PR firm for Wall Street and instead fulfill its journalistic obligation to the truth.

CNBC should publicly declare a drastic change of direction, committing to responsible journalism in an effort to hold Wall Street accountable in the future. As a first step, it should bring new economic voices on the air with a focus on those who were right about this crisis in the first place.

The stakes are too high for CNBC to continue acting as the unofficial mouthpiece of Wall Street. This is not a game. Together we can bring about the much-needed change we seek. That is why it is so important that you sign this petition today and then encourage your friends, family and co-workers to do the same.

If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment and sign the petition today then ask your friends, family and coworkers to do the same.

Nice work, MMFA! I especially liked Kudlow saying that helping homeowners is rewarding bad behavior, while his buddies on Wall Street and AIG get $Bs in bonuses!

There was a poignant passage about 25 years of absolute free-market coming to an end in this video.

That pretty much sums it up. They can keep calling it nasty names. But they ruined by retirement savings and many people I am close to lost their jobs because of their greed.

      TDB!

FUnny how when the sister network MSNBC "gets thrills up their collective legs" over  the then, prsidential candidate,  none of  the MMfA cranks ever made a peep. This is what you'll NEVER see from you folks about any NBC network as long as they are pushing the mindless  kool-aid  drinking left wing fringe line...:

(reworded from the above article) " Rather than fulfill its crucial role as a journalistic outlet seeking the truth, (any) NBC instead abdicated its responsibility to the American people in favor of years of uncritical repetition of spin by the obama campain. This denied the public accurate information about the lack of  acheivment,  questionable associations, and socialist agenda of said candidate who is now President of the USA, its consequences, and the effectiveness of his plans"

A better call to actionis one to have MMfA stop twisting the  truth, discern the difference between stated opinion versus fact in things said from others not sharing your viewpoint, and recognize that others havea right  to their own opinions and beliefs, even if (GASP!) they dont conform to yours...

Funny how you always make the same complaint about MMfa. Can you remember why its bogus?

You missed all the stories about Obama's dangerous associations in the campain(campaign?)? How in the world did you miss them, they fell like the rain.

Some examples of MMfa's truth twisting, failing to differentiate between a stated opinion and facts is to much to ask for? The original sources as included would seem to answer your last extended hyperventiate. If not tell me how.

I didn't miss any of the commentary on his associations.. however it seems most of that  concern was expressed by Fox News and decried by MMfA in their never ending quest to sink Fox before all others. I can't recall too many instances of the Obama alliances being reported on any of the NBC subsidiary networks.

and MMfA's mission or charter statement is that they  purport ot "Fight' conservative misinformation in the media. By inference  alone, but certiainly  confirmed by behavior, that means that any and all "Liberal misinformation" is acceptable and promotable.

You always sing the same song... the bleating of a sheep.. is that  why your screen name is EWEston?  It's quite apparent that liberals will bear no freedom of speech unless it echos their ideology. I detest hypocrisy above all other dissertion based character faults and MMfA and it's coherts are a never ending supply of it. If hypocrisy was music, MMfA and it's writers, followers, and sycophants woudl be the New York Philharmonic on steroids.

Ah, you remembered, how nice. And lot of righteous blather, but no answers to the questions in my last paragraph.

The sheepish aspects of my tag had to be pointed out to me a few times. As one born in Montana however I suppose the music of bleating sheep is lost to you, even as you bleat a bit yerself.

I'd like to see you dis a p*ssed (%$#**&^ O filter) off Rocky Mountain Sheep, It'd be worth the price of a high end videocam.
