WaPo's Paul Kane defends GOP opposition to volcano monitoring, calls liberals "pathetic" for criticizing it

Washington Post reporter Paul Kane:
The Beavis and Butthead Party: The GOP makes fun of spending money on volcano monitoring, a volcano blows up. The GOP makes fun of spending money on pandemic preparation, a potential pandemic moves in. What is the next serious topic the GOP thought was funny that will blow up in their faces?
Paul Kane: I kinda think the left's efforts to politicize these things is pretty pathetic.
And besides, I don't think Beavis 'n' Butthead would be Republicans. I kinda suspect they eventually grew up to be Hillary Clinton Democrats.
Is it really "the left" that tried to politicize these things? Seems to me that when Bobby Jindal mocked volcano monitoring funding without having the first clue what it was for, that was politicizing the issue. The Left subsequently pointed out how stupid that politicization was.
But apparently Paul Kane thinks it's more "pathetic" to point out that the Republicans mindlessly opposed volcano monitoring than for the Republicans to mindlessly oppose volcano monitoring. Good to know.

I pointed to Mr. Kane that it would be pathetic if Democrats DIDN'T "politicize" what are known as policy differences (e.g. Republicans vote against science and health), and that is the reason we have two parties in our Democracy instead of one.
I also noted to him that I believe that Democrats got into trouble the last 20-30 years specifically because they tried to blur policy differences with Republicans.
That is because when you are a hardline righty conservative, you can never admit that you were wrong.
George W was the perfect incarnation of that thinking.
Instead, you just blame the other side or someone else as biased or for doing the same thing you just did.
So, it's "pathetic" to accurately point out that Republicans made fun of spending money on volcano monitoring, only to have a volcano erupt, and bragged about cutting spending on pandemic containment, only to have a pandemic break out?
I wonder if Kane also thinks it's pathetic for Rep. Michelle Bachmann to falsely claim that the current and 1976 swine flu outbreaks occurred under "Democrat presidents"?
Oh, who am I kidding? I don't wonder -- I know Kane's OK with bachmann's idiotic remarks.
