trial marriages next ? Naw, look at the Palin-Johnston fiasco. and they are not the first to try marriage without actually being married.

Why not? WHy shoudl we care if a bunch of folks want to live togetehr as husbunds and wives. Who friggin' cares? As long as there's no FORCED marriage or underagded stuff going on, WHO CARES?

Among mentally competant, consenting adults... TO EACH, HIS OWN.

      WHY THE HELL NOT?

I've mentioned this before, but I think once you get beyond one person-one person, you run into practical considerations in areas such as property law, family law (spousal support/child support, etc.,) immigration law, intestacy law, UCC rules, tax laws, and so forth.

For TAXES, you just say that you can only claim ONE SPOUSE, but ALL CHILDREN as dependants. (And each child can only be claimed ONCE.) That's pretty much as it is now. The rest is sticky, but not insurmountable.

And let's be honest... the real opposition to plural marriage is the same as the opposition to gay marriage: "My religion say it's icky."
