Pres. Obama did not invite himself to Notre Dame. It was policy to invite a speaker.

Can someone please fill me in on what Obama did that was such an affront to Catholicism that it's brought "unrest" to the sacred holy ground of Notre Dame?

well, let's see. To some he wasn't born in the USA despite the facts. He was palling around with terrorrists. Oh yeah, the fist-bump with his beautiful wife. Don't forget he is really a muslim. He is a community organiser. IOn other words, it doesn't matter, FOX Nation will always slam this president no matter what.

He used his brain to think and reason for himself.

Fox Nation doesn't just do something this biased a lot, it does it every hour of every day. If you don't believe me, pick a random time in the next week and see what's on the site. It's nothing but red meat to lure disgruntled conservatives into doing the GOP's bidding.

I think that Fox News has had so much success shouting down any suggestion that they're a conservative or Republican news channel that they see no reason to even try hiding it anymore.

So unrest equals 19 people who were arrested when they stepped onto Notre Dame campus? You mean, that un-rest? This is just plain old silly. ND invited the man, and gave him the honor of speaking before the graduating class. Let's see, who would they rather have? Some boring old droll droning crusty old man, or the President of the United States? I'm pretty sure, regardless of their political affiliation, most, or the vast majority of students would like to say, "Yeah, I had the POTUS speaking at my commencement who did you have?"

I believe I read that GHW Bush, and GW Bush also spoke at ND graduations, as well as Jimmy Carter. How come we didn't see this "unrest" when the Bush's spoke there? You know, both of them being responsible for taking lives (Afghanistan, Iraq, Gulf War I).

I'm thinking that as with everything Obama these days, this is just a stupid "controversy" pushed by a very few people, and forwarded by the mainstream conservative media.

        magnolialover:

        This is a non-story: period.

BTW: I did have a crusty old man speak at my commencement; it was the pits.

Oh, I know it's a non story, there is no doubt about it. I would have loved to have had POTUS speak at my graduation, although I did get Stephen King, which I have to say, was pretty entertaining.

I did indeed. University of Maine, where King went to school. I had a few of his former professors whilst ensconced up there.

It might be interesting to see if there was any protest at GWB's presence at the Golden Dome heads.

Grad doing rosary with his back to the Prez during address was main protest item in '01. There were others outside, but not nearly the hullaballoo as has been made over Obama. A lot of the outrage, as I recall, was over death penalty record in TX.
