At the time prior to the American Revolution, the support for same was about 10% of the General Population. Will this current movement ever hit or exceed that figure? Who knows. If the economy grows, if people are gainfully employed in the next few years, it probably won't, especially consideriang from what I have read, the top 5% of income earners will be all that are asked to sacrifice. However, because that group usually is able to control its income, revenues from that source may not be enough to balance the budget, especially when a top marginal rate reaches around 65%. The top 5% which now earns a little over 30% of all income currently contributes to the tune of about 60% of Federal Individual Income Tax receipts. When that burden reaches somewhere around 70%, we will probably see a lot more examples like the Owner of the NY Buffalo Sabres, who is leaving the State, only the wealth will be following factories off shore.
Where did you get that statistic about the American revolution. Did GALLUP do that poll? The rightwing is petulant. That does not make a revolution. You have been watching Red Dawn to much. Factories are ALREADY moving offshore and will continue to do so for as long as they can make MONEY doing so. We dont have to cater to the Rich like we are begging for crumbs off of their table. They have gotten the majority of the tax cuts since 1980 it is time for them to kick some back. In the 50's the marginal rate was about 90% now they are going back to Clinton era tax rates. Boo Fricken Hoo. I dont remember rich people leaving the US in droves because of that increase.
These tea parties though have nothing in common whatsoever with the ones perpetrated before the American Revolution, nothing. Only in name are they the same. The reasoning was different. Let me remind you again what Sam Adams and his band of protesters were actually protesting, because people seem to have forgotten. They were protesting, mainly, a huge corporate tax break, as in, the East India Company was allowed to sell tea (and only they were allowed to sell tea) in the colonies at a 0% tax rate, whilst others were taxed much higher, therefore eliminating competition.
And these tea parties if I am to believe what I read and see on TV, were not about unemployment, they were about the common man and woman having to pay too many taxes, and they were mad, allegedly, about spending of the federal government. But what they're really about is dislike of Obama, and that's fine, let's just not pretend that this is about some higher thing, about some kind of "movement".
A lot of the wealth of Americans is already located off shore, in accounts and banks that are not accessible by the IRS.
If we are to believe the plan laid out, and what has been put into action, or movement, 98% of Americans will see a tax cut, while the top 2% will see a tax increase of about, 2-3% (income tax). I'm sure somehow that this additional 2-3 percent is going to destroy wealth how exactly? If the owner of the Buffalo Sabres wants to move out of State, fine. This sounds like a NY State issue, not a federal issue. Don't you think? Unless of course if he went to Canada, where he'll be paying more taxes than in the US. Which would have been stupid of him. Also, a tax rate of 38% is still around 10 percent lower than when Ronny was in office, and somehow he is still held in high regard for his low tax rate stance. Taxes, for all of us, are as low as they've ever been (income taxes I'm talking about again here).
And I'm also not sure where you got that statistic for the tea parties back before the revolution. But it was a local action more or less, and there were other tea parties through the colonies, around, or about the same time, but as you know, word travelled slow in those days.
Why doesn't anybody use SeannieTheSissyBoys original words...Let's go teabagging or come teabagging with us? Just like when he started the Conservative Underground Movement(but the acronym was too cool).
These are the top 5 Anti-Teabagging songs sweeping the country..
1. Bitter Tea Bag, Bitter Taste.
2. A Teabagging We Will Go.
3. Me and My Teabagger.
4. Teabagging and Crumpets.
5. Dick and Teabagging. (A love song for Cheney)
Someone at Nestea or Red Rose must have a friend at Fox. Or Murdoch owns them.
If you recall, when Fox wanted to boycott France, the morning nutz were telling people to boycott French Wine and suggested Austrailian wine. Doesn't Murdoch own wineries in AussieLand? Were the hosts kissing butts or were they too stupid to realize they were being used? Were they pimps for Murdock?
Murdoch's wine probably comes in a screw-top bottle and is called "Ripper..."
