If California is bankrupt they have no one to blame except for their current Governor. If he wasn't in bed with Enron and Reliant they wouldn't be in the hole.

No, the problems are the result of the fact that it has about a dozen nutcase Republican legislators who can hold the whole system hostage because of a 2/3 vote requirement.

Every year they refuse to approve a budget on anything but their terms, and every year they win. They refuse to ever raise taxes-- it's all about cuts for them, and then when they get those, they then demand concessions in other areas, like employment law.

I don't think it was Arnold in bed with Enron, but that is when there troubles started.

I live in California and the probelms are a result of Prop 13 that passed in the 1970's. This limited tax money to local governments and thus to the state.

Ah the good old tax revolution. Which spread to how many states? Many of which are now hurting. If I was of a wingnut turn of mind that's were I'd place the blame. As I detest that kind of thing, I'll merely say that I do believe that It's a good part of it. Still there are other parts of equal significance.
