Coulter: "How about having the president throw out the ceremonial first fetus, like on opening day in baseball?"

May 21, 2009 10:39 am ET by Media Matters staff

From Ann Coulter's May 21 column on anncoulter.com:

So instead of inviting a constitutional lawyer to yammer on about this purported constitutional right, why not show it being practiced?

How about a 21-vacuum hose (D&C) salute? Maybe have the Notre Dame marching band form a giant skull-piercing fork? How about having the president throw out the ceremonial first fetus, like on opening day in baseball? I'm just brainstorming here, folks -- none of this is written in stone.

Being such a prestigious institution, Notre Dame could probably get famed partial-birth abortion practitioner George Tiller to do the demonstration at next year's graduation. Obama could help -- inasmuch as Tiller the abortionist is a close friend of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

This is a "constitutional right" like no other.

I was wondering when Miss Liar...I mean Coulter would come out of the wood work. To believe anything this woman says is to conclude that one has just finished having a lobotomy.

Ann Coulter is irrelevant to the purpose of MMfA. This site should dedicate itself to monitoring legitimate, mainstream new sources for accuracy, not as an avenue for the replication of extreme viewpoints.

I'm calling the men in the white coats... she needs to be carted away. She is a danger not only to society but also to herself.

Too bad reich-wingers didn't care about our Troops and fellow Americans as much as they "care" about a clump of cells in utero.

That is a pretty good one Ann. The only shame is your mother is no longer around to be filled with such pride after reading such crap.

Have you ever read about her family? They would adore her. They used to talk about uppity Negroes at the holiday dinner table.

That reads like one of Beck's failed stand up routines. Don't forget to tip your nurses.

Mr Beck got reamed by " The View ". never lie to Barbara Walters ( or Judge Judy for that matter ) back to topic, I wonder if a carefull thorough analysis of Miss Coulter's brainwaves would reveal a serious curtailment of supply blood to the brain coupled with little kids thinking processes.

This is one of the issues Republicans resort to, when their only purpose is to erode whatever political capital Democrats might be enjoying with the American People at large, specifically to alienate the many Americans who we often refer to as living in 'Red States', to alienate them from Democrats...

This is one of the issues they resort to, along with illegal immigration, and same-sex marriage, and of late, detainees and interrogation and almost anything to do with the CIA and spying (for the obvious purpose of painting Democrats as siding with terror suspects, and of being against the all-important collection of Intelligence : which is to generally paint Democrats as backwards regarding National Security), and in times past, we had capital punishment resorted to also (so as to paint Democrats as compassionate of and siding with murderers), but that particular issue seems off the radar screen these past several years, while the others take up as much space as can be forced by Republicans into the faces of the American People...

There's really two things I'd note about these several 'wedge issues' if you will : one is to beware... and the other thing I'd note, is that when Republicans invoke the issues of illegal immigration and same-sex marriage, and of late detainees and interrogation and even spying, and even when they used to invoke capital punishment, none of those things ever put an image into my mind as repulsive and even horrifying, as the images they routinely and casually invoke, when they invoke the particular issue of this item.

I can without any hesitation say, that this is truly the sickest of the political rhetoric they resort to, as Republicans try desperately to politically divide and conquer the American People, and to alienate 'Red State' Americans from Democrats.

the republican model ( Rovian style democracy of a one party system forever ) worked well last election cycle. I was wondering about the american electorate capacity to think clearly until 7.54 PM ( PST ) on Nov 4, 2008, when it became obvious the electectorate rejected big time this particular model. What I don't understand is why the contemporary republicans ( to my delight ) continue to cling to this ridiculous form of debate.

Old dogs tend to prefer old tricks, and bad habits are hard to break... also, if you're not very bright in the first place, and especially if your compass is bent and points in the wrong direction, then it's hard to think of new ideas and new tricks, and it's almost impossible to find your way.

That's how I'd describe what the Republican Party is doing presently.
