Wow. It's kind of hard to read this through all that ego. Leaving aside the self-promotion on the right side about her having been a "Weblog Awards" finalist in 2005 (i.e., she was almost worth reading several years ago, maybe), and her patting herself on the back for her extreme cleverness in coming up with "So-So," this Schlussel lady is claiming tremendous expertise in the area of jurisprudence, to the extent that she can claim that Sotomayor has not "set any remarkable legal precedent," or "achieved legal greatness."

I suppose I'd really have to know more about Schlussel's own qualifications before I can grant her any validity. Does her IQ and experience match her snottiness? I would guess not, in that she makes numerous errors in presentation ("Democrat" instead of "Democratic," "neither J-Lo or So-So" instead of "nor", etc.) as well as logic.

You go, Justice Sotomayor! With the current absence on the Supreme Court, there's always room for J-Lo.

The only 'qualification' she has is making the basement-dwellers... uh, hot and restless, aka 'excited', and that is all that is needed to have credibility on the Right.

This drivel is in competition with the references to 'preferred cuisine' as being the stupidest discourse on this subject to date. Next...

Yep, Debbie, this woman who graduated top of her class from law school, and was editor of the law review at said same school has no legal precedent or experience that would make her a worthy pick for the court. Oh, and her years in private practice. Oh, and her years as a prosecutor. Oh, and her years on the federal bench.

God, I can't believe that Obama picked someone so intellectually bereft of education, and experience.

Debbie, you're an idiot. Your words prove that out.

Is this from Newsbusters? I could have sworn I was at the Media Matters site but the content and presentation of this article sure look like Newsbusters.

The "Justice So-So" moniker really isn't all that bad had it been backed up with examples from the writings from the nominee. In the Ricci case, for example, Judge Sotomayor appears to just clock in and show up for the case but offers nothing enlightening on the issue in the way of a legal opinion. In the face of someone who did have a very sympathetic case in that Ricci was offered a goal to pursue, went to personal expense and overcame adversity to achieve that goal, then had it yanked away like Lucy Van Pelt and the football, it may have been worthwhile to offer more than a simple echo of the previous ruling. Something about the responsibility of the local government involved outweighing the expense incurred by an individual. Anything to fend off the appearance that the case - which I personally believe was resolved properly - had been simply rubber stamped by the appellate court.

I would rather have seen the President take advantage of this moment in history to forward a more aggressive counterbalance to the four prior appointments who were sent to supposedly repair the court's alleged penchant for activism. A more fervent advocate of human rights and civic responsibility to counter the support of corporate rights and individual culpability that we have had from the last few appointees. In that respect Sotomayor is "so-so". But the cartoonish way in which a clever moniker was backed only by juvenile pokes and jabs that even Perez Hilton may have shied away from completely undermines any shred of validity the writer's argument may have once possessed.

Well, by YOUR "expert" analysis, the only reason you have a blog and a following is that you look (and act, and not think, and are closeminded) like Anne Coulter.

It's people like you who are keeping our society from moving forward. Justice Sotomayor achieved more in her college years than you have in your "career." WOW- finalist in 2005? Why didn't you put up your 6th place finish in the spelling bee in 3rd grade "De-Schu"?

Who is this idiot Debbie Schlussel, and why is MMfA stroking her already wildly inflated ego?

This woman is what I call "arrogance without portfolio." I don't mind arrogance (much) when it's backed up, but when someone (like Schlussel) is arrogant simply because she's too stupid to know just how stupid she is, then arrogance is to be pitied.

Hmmm. Lesseee. Salutatorian in her class at Princeton, and summa cum laude. Received the Pyne prize. Attended Yale Law school and was an editor on Yale Law Review. Appointed by George H.W. Bush to the federal district court (betcha didn't know that, didja). Has the broadest range of experience (prosecutor, law firm, judge, legal academia) of any potential Justice in a hundred years. Supported by a number of Republican senators. Yes, her personal story was part of the equation. That was true for Justice Samuel Alito and Justice Clarence Thomas, by the way. Okay, now what else you got?

Debbie Schlussel is just another in the long list of dispicable Right-Wing, Neo-Fascist hate-mongers dominating the airwaves and internet blogs these days. They are so sickening it boggles the mind that they even exist still, yet they do. Thankfully, they are being marginalized more and more every day.

I think that eventually they and their descendants will rue the day they ever decided to spout such hate-filled demagoguery, for they will, and their children also, be vilified in the coming years. This country will eventually reach the full heights of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream, and on that day, people like Schlussel, Sean Insanity, Bill O'Lielly, and Rush Limpballs will be viewed by 99% of the people in America (rightfully so) as sickening social pariahs.

There are two immense benefits from this Sonia Sotomayor nomination. Not only will we get more absolutely needed diversity on the Supreme Court, but this sickening barrage of attacks on her has certainly hastened the demise of the Racist, Neo-Fascist Repuglican Party. I can only imagine that they will go the way of the Whig Party by the year 2020. I can't wait for that to happen. Although I'm an agnostic, I say Hallelujah to that party's deathnell...lol
