ABC News thinks Sean Hannity's anti-Obama screeds = news

June 04, 2009 7:41 am ET by Eric Boehlert

Perfectly capturing the mindset of our 'liberal media', which treats right-wing hate radio hosts as being deeply insightful and important, ABC's The Note posts this news bulletin:

ABC News' Rick Klein reports: Conservative talk-show host Sean Hannity today called President Obama’s speech in Cairo part of “an apology tour” that conveys a sense that America has been “arrogant.”

BTW, The Note offered no context, rebuttal or fact-checking in its Hannity report. It was just Stenography 101.

Gee.........Hannity repeats the "apology tour" stuff again and that's "news" to ABC ?

AS I saw recently on another blog, If Obama were able to walk on water, Hannity's "news" would be that Obama can't swim.

The problem is that the MSM, supposedly "liberal" are by and large simply not up to the task in terms of journalism and intelligence.

They are news models, not journalists.

I'm not sure - after "Survivor" and "American Idol" became viable news stories on network news - that any of us could be surprised by the overt laziness and irrelevancy of contemporary journalism.

        Exellent. I completely agree.

Excellent commentary on a brilliant speech.

This is an easy way to satisfy their corporate bosses that they're "Fox-ifying" their news without having to be Fox. Just quote Fox. And that great thinker, Sean Patrick Hannity (even his Irish name is boring).

In other television news eras, a Hannity would have been a joke. Now he's oh-so-quotable.

True, and so long as Fox dominates cable ratings, this will be the case.

I wonder if ABC is aware that a close personal friend of Sean Hannity... Hal Turner was arrested for inciting the killing of elected officials in Connecticut, the killing of three federal judges in Chicago, and the killing of the doctor in Omaha, NE that wants to re-open Dr. Tillers office and take his place.

Follow this link at your own peril... I kid you not when I say it is beyond hate filled. This scumbags site leave little to the imagination as to what he is talking about.

His concept of 'change' is to kill rather than run for public office and make the change yourself. To speak up loudly and force the government to listen.

No, this neanderthal wrote in his electronic blog, specifically calling for the murder of elected officials, federal judges, and abortion doctors.

If Sean comes out and does the right thing by turning his back on his 'close' friend (which I doubt because this blog speaks the same, beginning to end)... that means Sean knew that his 'close' friend talked and thought this way for months, if not years!

About damn time one of these hate-filled mongrels is finally being dealt with!

I watched Sean Hannity's appearance this morning on ABC, and I was absolutely appalled by what he had to say. I think I've become accustomed to hearing is hate- and fear-mongering on the F-word network, but to hear him spewing his nonsense on ABC just took the cake.

I don't have a problem with criticism of our president. Lord knows I was very critical of President Bush. But to stoop to the level that Sean Hannity does on a regular basis is just dishonest. The only thing Hannity was able to say was, "We still don't know who Obama is - maybe he's a secret Muslim terrorist." Now, that's not an exact quote, but when you feel the need to bring up Rev. Wright and you take issue with the President quoting the Koran...

What you have though is that Sean Hannity is now "mainstream"! We are discussing his far-right crackpot views on ABC! And that is their goal to set the limits of the debate, and define what is serious and what is not, and they have have succeeded! Everyday we here what Liz Cheney, Rush Limbaugh et.al., have to say about any and all of President Obama's policies and actions with an almost complete blockout of the "left" from the discussion. I think anytime we are discussing what they have to say they consider a victory.

Hannity need not do any fact checks. He is fact free. He is the leader of the right wing extremists. In fact most GOP folks, both in and out of Congress, take their talking points from him.

That sounds about right. The US has been "arrogant" because of people like Nixon and Kissinger et al and probably has since the Spanish-American War and the Philippines. But, many of us know the difference between the operatives of the US government and its big business pals business deeds around the world, and the rest of us the real Americans on whose behalf Obama finally speaks! We don't need to take offense.

We had better clean up our act if we want to be sustainable around the world, and get off our big businesses' dependency on cheap labor and cheap commodities all over the world, which is the cause of all this hatred.

I was appalled this morning to see Diane Sawyers inviting Sean Hannity to give his impression on the Pres’ speech. How about having scholars, diplomats, political scientists, or international experts to discuss this? I watched France 24 and BBC online they had only but the brightest minds to talk about it. Why the corporate media are trying to systematically dodge everything intelligent and to privilege the imbecile and the ignorant of the world?
Why the media is so obsessed with rightwing talking points? This guy, Hannity, spews nothing but ignorance to the extent where even the host (Diane) was embarrassed.

Aren’t they supposed to inform us? What did Diane Sawyer learn this morning? It’s such a shame.
If we don’t something about this, we will have a Sarah Palin sooner or later.

ABC News thinks Sean Hannity's anti-Obama screeds = news

That's no surprise -- ABC thought The Path to 9-11 was factual, too . . .

But do not remove the context. I believe the question Ms. Sawyer posed was "Mr. Hannity, how would a complete imbecile respond to the President's speech?" Now his remarks make perfect sense.
