Sanford met in Atlanta after returning from South America
Gov. Mark Sanford arrived in the Hartsville-Jackson International Airport this morning, having wrapped up a seven-day visit to Buenos Aires, Argentina, he said. Sanford said he had not been hiking along the Appalachian Trail, as his staff said in a Tuesday statement to the media.
Expect lots of defense and excuses from Faux. Yesterday, Becky even went as far as attacking the MSM for having the audacity to cover a missing governor.
The hypocrisy is simply staggering. Armstrong Williams, Maggie Gallagher, anyone? Jim Gannon from "Talon News"? How about FOX itself? Did Bush ever wonder if he was going to get a tough question from a FOX reporter?
Newsbusters smacks itself down on the "coordination" charge:"It is unknown whether Obama knew exactly what the question was going to be..." Well, if he doesn't know what the question's going to be, then it's not "coordinated". He knew there was a question from an Iranian and he wanted to answer it. I don't see how it's a softball question, so what would the purpose be to arrange a difficult and relevant question? It makes no sense at all.
And on top of that, the exaggeration is absurd. Nobody was ordered to ask anything. Pitney had a question in mind, and he was asked for it. In no way does that translate into "state-run media".
I thought Pitney asked a tough question of Obama. It was directly from an Iranian. And of course Obama knew that but that does not mean their was collusion. It means that the White House realizes Pitney has been live blogging on this issue and Iranians have been contacting him throughout. I am sorry that the MSM is becoming more irrlevant by the day. Anyone else notice the disdain Chuck todd showed on his face during the exchange between Obama and Pitney. I used to think Chuck Todd was OK. Now I know he is nothing more than a DC media blowhard.
The questions from the MSM at press conferences are never the ones I would like to hear. Maybe coordination is necessary in order not to be embarassed by our MSM.
Obama wanted to take a question from an Iranian. It seems reasonible to bring someone from HuffPo in to ask it. I think it's a good idea in general to bring HuffPo and other progressives in and get some questions from that side. It isn't only conservatives who have questions for the administration but the Reps are the opposition party so many of the questions are presented from that angle.
Seems to me that the essential distinction between Jimmy/Jeff Gannon/Guckert and the "planted" question is that both Obama and the HuffPo reporter were very clear and explicit about where the question was from and why it was being asked.
Obviously, presidents usually prepare for their press conferences at least a day in advance by rehearsing answers to hypothetical questions and quite obviously, most of the questions can be reasonably anticipated. If there's a problem with one of our planes falling into the hands of China, the president should very clearly be fully briefed and up-to-speed on that subject.
Yeah, even if the accusation were entirely true, I don't really see the scandal here.

Fox and its multiple identical personalities would provide an interesting topic for a Masters or Ph.D. thesis on abnormal psychology.
