June 29, 2009 6:31 pm ET by Media Matters staff

We just received an email from Dick Morris in which he attempts to convince his readers to buy his latest book by directing them to the following video...

Here's the email:

"Read about it here because you won't read about it anyplace else."

      Wonder why not...

Actually, the Declaration of Independence was not "repealed."

It was ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court in a 5 to 4 decision...

LOL! One of the tag lines is: How Obama turned an economic slump into a crash!

Damn, that Obama! We had 8 years of nothing but liberty, growth and good wars ... Now he's ruining EVERYTHING!

Thankfully, Michelle Obama has struck up a warm friendship with the Queen. Maybe the Brits will go easy on us.

      I love those two-author books:

      PROMINENT CELEBRITY

(...and a person who actually knows how to write)

Jeebus, these guys are hilarious. Who the hell is reading a "book" by Dick Morris? Is it the Fox Nooz base audience, a shrinking group of terrified octogenarians and tin-hat wearing paranoid shut-ins?

The most surprising thing to me about this is that the group of people who might buy a Dick Morris group includes not only people who can read, but can also operate the internets.

          Colonel,

I believe those are not "T(ea)" hats they wear.

One thing about Dick, he puts out more books than Stephen King.

Black Helicopters---Doc Savage was warming up to an overthrow of this government...Rush was talking overthrow...Hannity was discuss an uprising by the people..Seems to be the talking point this week.

You're right, Prince. Seems like more of these clowns who never put on a uniform to serve their country are the generals in the New Conservative Underground.

It's mostly funny, as their audience is made of of cowards like them who aren't a threat to do anything except vote against their own interests, and the interests of the nation.

The only part that's not funny is knowing there's that one-in-a-million wingnut listening to them who is crazy enough to take more action than calling in to a radio show or posting at Freerepublic. How many other Von Brunn's are out there?

Since the Declaration of Independence never had the force of law, how can it be repealed?

Anyway, I thought for Dick Morris 'catastrophe' meant a call girl with athlete's foot.

Well, the Troglodytes have always preferred cuddling up to the Declaration of Independence because it does mention a "Creator", unlike our Secular Humanist Constitution.

So how would having international corporations be unregulated give Americans independence? And more importantly, does Dick Morris ever not look like the creepy perverted uncle no one wants to talk about?

You know it was one thing to assert that the Bush admin was undermining the Constitution, I think there were enough facts around to support that - warrant less wiretapping, indefinite detention, etc. What is harder to prove is the motivation behind their deeds. I heard and read a lot of theories, not all of which I agreed with.
But the problem with Morris and Hannity etc, is that they look at actions and are willing to state without reservation the Obama administration's reason for doing what it is doing. You will hear them say it over and over - he wants to destroy this country, create a Socialist State, abolish capitalism, take all your money, tell you what you can drive, establish a Marxist regime etc, etc.

Read the comments on Fox Nation sometime. People there boast that they only watch Fox News, so their only source of information is what Morris and others tell them to be true.

Look how they conflate the Declaration of Independence, a one time proclamation of our intent to break from England, and the reasons why, with the Constitution, the well reasoned blueprint of our government. They don't fact check on line, they dismiss people like Colin Powell and John McCain as deserters and have no problem with the same 6 guests appearing on every FNC show to repeat the same things over and over. I doubt many of them know about Morris' connections with prostitution or how he left the Clinton administration (in disgrace). Once Hillary lost the campaign, that tidbit was dropped from his introduction since it was no longer pertinent. Previously his "insider's insight" was needed to undermine her.

They believe they are in the majority, even that God is on their side, and that in order to thrive, the country must operate using their value system.

I read many hear who say how ridiculous the Right Wing Media has become, even to the point of losing its supporters. I disagree. I see that group of fanatics becoming even more resolute and determined. My only consolation is my perhaps naive belief that their numbers are not large enough to influence a national election.

But I worry that there is an increasing possibility of violence perpetrated against those who they consider enemies of the United States, and Morris does little to defuse their misplaced wrath, if anything, he encourages it.
