UPDATED: Why won't GOP pundits leave Sarah Palin alooooone!

July 10, 2009 1:32 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

Fox News' Bill Sammon faithfully ignores the avalanche of Palin slams coming from the GOP press and pretends (voilà!) it's liberals who are teeing off on Palin. It's liberals who are unhinged.

As previously noted, when it comes to fighting the GOP's on-going, and bruising, Palin civil war, leave the press, and liberals, out of it.

I think Bill Sammon suffers from Truth Avoidance Syndrome.

Conservative columnist Michael Gerson discussing the Palin resignation on Newshour last Friday:

I mean, you know, high office is not just an honor like she talked about; it's a responsibility to, you know, keep your commitments, in this case. She seems to be leaving for reasons that are entirely unclear. I mean, she didn't make them clear in her announcement.

It seemed fundamentally unserious, which is problematic for someone who has a seriousness problem. And today I felt like she seemed more like a spoiled celebrity than a serious public official, and that's bound to hurt her.

It seems that the few remaining "moderate Republicans" were actually insulted by McCain's choice of Simple Sarah. Some, like Noonan and Murphy, actually had the guts to speak up.

Her appeal is limited to the rabid anti-intellectual religious wingnuts who, unfortunately, have been in control of the GOP for some time now.

She has her fans, Nerz. The people who can be fooled by spotless, fresh outta the box fishing waders, and are unclear on the difference between "fighting" and "quitting".

This reminds me, I got my latest bit of Human Events/Ann Coulter idiocy the other day. I think I once described Ann's writing as Jr. High level, but she's getting even more childish & snarky lately, more like 4th grade.

          Embarrassed by the goofy VP candidate she wants to forget about, she's created a fantasy world where Liberals are obsessed about Palin, and Wingnuts ( "normal people" to Ann) just want to talk about important substance;

She's like the ex-girlfriend they're SO over, never want to see again, have already forgotten about -- really, it's O-ver -- but they just can't stop talking about her.

Liberal: Ha, ha ... Sarah who? She's over, she's toast, a future Trivial Pursuit answer, nothing more.

Normal person: Whatever. How about the North Korean missiles?

Liberal: Can you believe she just resigned the governorship like that? What a quitter!

Ann, like most other Conservatives, hasn't a clue how to construct a proper analogy.

A more accurate analogy would be Simple Sarah as a burglar who tried to break into our house. We kept her out this time, but she's sitting on the curb across the street, waiting for another chance. That's why we're still talking about her... she remains a very real threat.

I'm not a moderate "Republican," but I am a moderate. I was horrified by McCain's choice. Her incompetence and her Messiah complex [she truly believes that it is her destiny to lead this country into the "End Times"] are frightening.

I've said it before... I don't want a President (with his/her finger on the button) who thinks it would be cool to have a front-row seat at Armageddon.

Wasn't it Fox sending Greta up there for interviews after the election? Wasn't it during those interviews she started moaning about how badly she was mistreated? Wasn't it during those Fox interviews she continued to say off the wall things with nothing to back it up? Didn't Fox send Greta up there again and once more poor old Sarah said some stupid stuff about the media? Sarah loves the attention. I bet when she was a little girl her parents held pity parties for her all the time.

one more thing......didn't Fox also break the story on all the complaints McCain's advisers had in dealing with Princess Sarah?a Fox kept her alive after the election.
