MSNBC's Buchanan still ranting about Sotomayor's purported "lifelong resolve to discriminate against white males"

July 14, 2009 7:17 am ET by Media Matters staff

From MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan's syndicated column

Why did McCain fail to win the white conservative Democrats Hillary Clinton swept in the primaries? He never addressed or cared about their issues.

These are the folks whose jobs have been outsourced to China and Asia, who pay the price of affirmative action when their sons and daughters are pushed aside to make room for the Sonia Sotomayors. These are the folks who want the borders secured and the illegals sent back.

Had McCain been willing to drape Jeremiah Wright around the neck of Barack Obama, as Lee Atwater draped Willie Horton around the neck of Michael Dukakis, the mainstream media might have howled.

And McCain might be president.

[...]

What they [Republicans] must do is expose [Judge Sonia] Sotomayor, as they did not in the case of Ginsburg, as a political activist whose career bespeaks a lifelong resolve to discriminate against white males to the degree necessary to bring about an equality of rewards in society.

Sonia is, first and foremost, a Latina. She has not hesitated to demand, even in college and law school, ethnic and gender preferences for her own. Her concept of justice is race-based.

As Media Matters for America has previously noted, Supreme Court litigator Tom Goldstein wrote in a May 29 SCOTUSblog post that after reviewing 96 race-related cases she decided on the court of appeals, "it seems absurd to say that Judge Sotomayor allows race to infect her decision making."

Hey, Pat, in response to your ignorant, racist remarks my first inclination is to suggest that someone hold your head under water until you stop thrashing...but that would make me just like you. So, instead, I'll just laugh at you like most other decent, rational, people are doing.

      P.S. Check your calendar, Pat...it's 2009.

More prejudice, ignorance and racism from this dinosaur!!!He has no real understanding of EEOC laws or the actual application of Affirmative Action procedures. The biggest impact is that EEOC procedures make it a fair competition for jobs.Jobs must be made available for all to compete;not just by networking, nepotism etc., that have long been practiced in this country. The major impact of AA is to improve demographics based on the local distribution to the extent that can be done when there are qualified(minority/women)candidates for a job.No one has to hire an unqualified (or lesser qualified) minority or woman. If all things are equal they can make a final decision based on the goal of improving the minority/gender demographics within job groupings. With 35 years of hiring and firing experience,I have not seen AA happen that much ,and when it does it's more so with white women because of the numbers. IE...there are too few minority candiates to have that much impact except maybe entry level jobs.It is largely a myth that Whites lose jobs .."given " to minorities. Its more a case that the law no longer allows jobs to be given to white men as once was done without fair competition! The vast majority of minority job holders got their jobs on merit not AA. The unemployment rates among minorities (esp black males) do not support such a premise of AA having the impact stated by MR Racist Buchanan!!!
