Even long since retired from his craft after his masterful Watergate caper, the suave Sir Charles Liddy, aka "The Phantom", still epitomizes the debonair gentleman burglar.
I was going with David Niven, forgot about "To Catch a Thief".
Regardless, I don't picture either of their characters, or the one single gentleman to whom Liddy refers, making snide comments about the first lady's legs. Then again, nobody expects Liddy to even approach those standards.
I think that should read "G. Gordon Liddy twits...." How can anyone take seriously comments about someone else's persona by a little bald-headed schmuck with glassy eyes and an evil moustache and has a voice like an over-done cartoon character of the 1950's?
... " G. Gordon Liddy"... - LLLLLiddy, like Watergate? Is he really still around? And looked at like beeing a journalist? - (Serious question, not rhetoric!!)

I was thinking of Jonathon Winters. He could capture the madness quite realistically.
