The latest chuckle from the union "beating" case in St. Louis

August 21, 2009 9:10 am ET by Eric Boehlert

Hmm, maybe if Kenneth Gladney's attorney weren't so busy appearing on sympathetic media outlets telling tales about union "thugs" attacked Gladney outside a recent town hall forum, embarrassing mishaps like this wouldn't be producing so many chuckles .

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

A conservative African-American social networking group set out Monday morning to criticize the city's NAACP chapter for not supporting a black man who said he was beaten outside a forum on aging earlier this month.

But the effort was cut short when the head of the civil rights group showed up at the news conference and said that no one had asked the NAACP to investigate the claims.

"The St. Louis branch of the NAACP will and does accept and investigate all written complaints filed with us, regardless of the complainant's ideology," said Claude Brown Sr., president of the St. Louis City NAACP. "We regret that a group has decided to protest outside our office before contacting us or filing such a complaint."

I have seen the video several times, and I want to know what happened to the SEIU member who IS down on the ground for much of the video and who gets up and rubs his shoulder towards the end. And what about the white guy who yells at the SEIU members that they will be arrested for assault. Mr. Gladney has said that he was handing out pins and that a union member grabbed the pin board away from him and he grabbed it back. Now, how did the union guy get on the ground and why did the other union guy feel the need to stand over him and yell at people to leave him alone. It is just about then that Mr. Gladney goes down and immediately springs back up again and walks around chatting for the rest of the video. I am very curious to see what will come out if this gets to court.

Kenneth Gladney then expressed outrage at the complete lack of clairvoyance on the part of the St. Louis NAACP.

If I was Kenneth Gladney, I wouldn't be upset about being knocked to the ground. Sometimes it happens, and he wasn't the only one knocked to the ground during that little episode.

No, if I was him, what I'd be really be mad about is the way my conservative leaders have insisted on making me wear 'the blue dress'.

Sounds like a farily typical conservative tactic.

Who knew the St Louis NCAAP was a government bureaucracy? Apparently he never filled out the forms to have Al or Jesse come down and extort for him, either.

ATLANTA — An NAACP leader said Michael Vick should be allowed to return to the NFL, preferably the Atlanta Falcons, after serving his sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation.

"As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football," said R.L. White, president of the group's Atlanta chapter. "We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country."

I SUPPOSE MICHAEL VICK FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NAACP! GET REAL!
