Why would anyone take Ed Klein seriously?

August 28, 2009 1:59 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

Author/gossiper Ed Klein, whose dreadful work in recent recent has been completely discredited, appeared on NPR on Wednesday and claimed that Sen. Ted Kennedy used to love telling Chappaquiddick jokes.

Right-wing bloggers have seized upon the comment (Ah-ha! Kennedy was evil!) and are pretending that because Ed Klein said something about a prominent Democrat it must be true.

Oh brother.

Please do some background reading on Ed Klein and then try to convince me why I should take seriously anything he says or writes about Democrats.

The media folk who enabled and cheered on the Iraq invasion are pretty much still availible. But they've pretty much learned their lesson. This lesson being that it paid very well. A continuig lesson even today for their efforts on health care lies, protecting financial institutions, and encouraging insurection against a duly elected american president in a time of war.
Take this lesson home kiddies! "Money changes everything."

So you are still mad the Eric called you our for implying that Hussien was released "only" because of the amnesty law. I mean really, he just must have been a terrorist, since the military did arrest him.

So somebody is still invoking Soros. I thought ACORN had supplanted Soros as the big scary right-wing threat.

        MjM,

I have a quiz for you.

Which individual has been the number one funder of the conservative movement over the last 30 years?

I am not talking about someone like U.S. citizen Soros who spent about 20 million on liberal causes in 2004, one election cycle, because he saw the horror Bush and co. were creating for what it was. I am talking about who has outspent anyone, BILLIONS, funding the right over decades. I'll give you hint, if you buy a copy the "Funding Fathers" written by the president of the Young America Foundation, you won't see this person mentioned and for a reason.

Another hint, besides all the cash, 20 years ago it was reported that this person had ties to every conservative organization in Washington. He was there, holding the new right's hand and passing out the cash in the formative years of today's right.

Watching you, like so many conservatives who are told who their boogeymen are to be, prattle on about Soros, I would like to know if you have a clue who has outspent anyone propping the new reality free conservatism we see in bloom today. Who is this person and why do the overwhelming number of holier-than-thou, self-righteous, blowhard and grossly uninformed conservatives have no idea the primary role this person played in enabling their movement and conditioning their opinions?

        Can you name this person?

You can hear Klein talking about how his Hillary hating smear book was "his best work" on Franken's show at these links.

Listen to Al and Conason take Klein the smear machine down.
