Ashley Furniture HomeStore latest to pull ads from Beck

August 28, 2009 3:38 pm ET by Matt Gertz

After Media Matters for America noted that Ashley Furniture HomeStore advertised on the August 26 edition of Fox News’ Glenn Beck, we received the following statement:

"Ashley Furniture HomeStore pulled its advertising from "Glenn Beck" as of Aug. 27, said Kendra Maggert, a spokeswoman for the company."

Ashley Furniture HomeStore joins forty-six other companies who have reportedly said they will no longer run ads on Beck's Fox News show.

And Beck and his groupies get loonier.

I think his ratings are going up because people are fascinated by his absurdities and his complete meltdown. I'm expecting a "get off my phone, get off my phone, get off my phone," episode any day now.

If this does have a happy ending, I expect more of a Palin style bow-out... You know, under the guise of being more effective by being more invisible.

Boy these advertisers sure are missing out on promoting their products. Beck had more viewers at 5pm than Olbermann and Maddow did combined during prime time. This despite what Olbermann said on Tuesday, "this show [is] the highest rated cable news program, period." Uh.. right.

Are you claiming that that is why Fox News dominates MSNBC in ratings then?

Again I recommend reading John Dean's book Conservatives without Conscience. It explains that conservatives need their reinforcement, especially when reality consistently conflicts with what they're being spoon-fed on hate radio and Fox News.

Since you've read the book I assume, can you tell me what a conservative believes in that isn't consistent with reality?

The WMDs were found. Saddam was behind 9/11. Mushroom clouds. Yellow cake. Aluminum tubes. Plame was not covert. Death books. Death panels. Obama's not a citizen. I could go on and on and on but you get the idea (I hope).

You just listed off random cliches that liberals label those who don't see eye to eye with them. Tell me what an actual conservative believes in.

It wasn't any worse than when Olbermann called our president a terrorist.

You realize that when companies such as Walmart or Ashley's don't advertise on Beck it has nothing to do with Beck. These companies could not care less, they will just advertise elsewhere. These Businesses are non union shops who are afraid of the hold the Unions have with Der Fuhrer and "hope" this will buy them some time before the administration goes after them.

For all of you who are pushing this boycott to hurt Beck financially somehow, you are misguided. The power, and hence the money does not orginate from the advertisers, it comes from the shows ratings. As the ratings go up, in part because of the publicity generated by the boycott, the power to charge more for advertising increases. There are only so many advertising slots to fill, and when they are filled, it doesn't matter how many people aren't going to advertise, as all the slots have been sold. It doesn't matter if there are 100 or 200 on the list, they only have a handfull of slots available for sale, and the higher the ratings, the higher the price.

Glenn Beck and his bank account thank you all for your hard work.
