WND columnist Erik Rush: Obama a narcissist, like O.J. Simpson

September 03, 2009 6:31 pm ET by Media Matters staff

From Erik Rush's September 3 WorldNetDaily column:

Football legend and actor O.J. Simpson was a truly beloved American icon. The quintessential American success story, he projected an amicable, wholesome, larger-than-life figure. His triumphs were even more noteworthy because he was a black man who had risen to fame and fortune during the Civil Rights Movement era.

In 1995, Simpson was put on trial for the murders of Nicole Brown (his second ex-wife) and a male friend. As a result, authorities and the press were able to delve into his affairs as no one had previously done. Only then did Americans learn that he was a beast and a brute, an obsessively controlling, chronic wife beater, emotional abuser and philanderer. In short, he was a pathological narcissist for whom whimsy, pleasure and image were paramount. Worse, his behavior had been validated and reinforced by the fact that he had been catered to by those around him, personally and professionally, for decades. After beating the murder rap, Simpson continued to manipulate and bully those around him. Twelve years later, his capricious conduct earned him a lengthy prison sentence for numerous firearms charges, robbery, burglary, assault and kidnapping.

Many Americans, and even a few trained in behavioral science, have identified President Obama as a deeply pathological narcissist. He has also managed to masterfully control his environment. While his detractors contend that his façade has been maintained by a complicit press, this may only be partially true. According to experts, the profoundly narcissistic frequently astonish casual observers when the extent of control they have been able to maintain over their environment (primarily, people close to them) is finally revealed ... Given the determination with which our president has hidden certain other personal information, it is probable that there are a few aspects thereof that he perceives might damage him politically, if not personally or even legally.

Rush has also likened Obama to a "cellblock rapist" and called Attorney General Eric Holder "another floatie in the septic tank that is the Obama administration."

Bolded... ooooh... a few who took a couple of basic psych classes make an assertion.

What would these people make of the old Dubyah conferences, with folks like "Jeff Gannon"?

Comparing the black President of the U.S. to a black multiple murderer...hmmm. I wonder what Erik Rush was really getting at.

Who exactly is he talking about here? I've heard the president called a lot of things, but this is actually the first time I've heard anyone claim that he's a deeply pathological narcissist.

With absolutely no credentials to issue this type of conclusion PLUS being a coward, he uses the "Others" (Americans and some experts) to hide behind...better believe this MORON is willing to hide behind whatever is convenient so he can't be held accountable!

Get on back to the GUTTER, shoo, shoo!

I wonder what "personal information" Obama is hiding that Erik Rush feels he's entitled to.

And here I thought that O.J. was an ex-NFL football player.

What an idiot or slick counter intelligence agent Erik Rush is,I suspect that it is closer to the latter. Here we go again! Use the vitriol surrounding the demonizing of a man of color and you can get white Americans again lathered up, frothing and foaming at the mouth with inexplicable hatred by again utilizing the OJ myth. It worked well right after 9/11 when the agitators dressed OJ up and put him in a picture next to Osama bin Laden. It didn't take much to launch a costly trillion dollar and 5,000 lives lost attack on Iraq, after showing the Americans that picture. It might have been intended to help Israel forestall an ambitious Iraqi move, it ultimately appeared to help VP Cheney and his cronies at Halliburton. But guess what, they lied to you well before the WMD lie. OJ Simpson was in the back seat of a chauffeur driven limo on his way to LAX at 11PM while his wife was alive and well talking to her mother at 11 PM on the phone. This was picked up by Dr. H.S. Johnson and his OMIG investigative team and subsequently contracted by Simpson. It was proven that OJ's lawyers along with the prosecutors hid this fact by entering a stipulation of 9:37PM as the last time OJ's wife was alive. The stipulation bypassed the jury's examination and was repeated again in both trials. Presently, I guess, they want to level Obama by association with Simpson, since they couldn't do it with Osama, they'll try and attach him to OJ now, for some sinister purpose. As stupid and foolish as Americans have shown themselves to be, it just might work (AGAIN!).

I don't know this Erik Rush fellow, but in just these few words we can come to some conclusions.

He doesn't know/intentionally misstates history. O.J. Simpson didn't become a football pro until 1969, and wasn't any kind of star until 1972, well after the heyday of the civil rights movement.

He has no idea of where the media really stands/intentionally tries to believe the opposite. "While his detractors contend that his façade has been maintained by a complicit press, this may only be partially true." The press, himself included, have been absolutely vicious in its treatment of Obama, and from well before he took office.

He has no real complaint, so makes something up, and doesn't even back up his contention at all. "Many Americans, and even a few trained in behavioral science, have identified President Obama as a deeply pathological narcissist." Who has so identified him as such? I've heard it enough that it's clearly become the new nonsense talking point ("He's arrogant." "He's got an ego." "He's so full of himself."), but there's never any meat to their complaint. Just what has Obama said or done that deserves this criticism? Better still, what could he ever do to change their minds?

Behold Erik Rush--delusional, lying fool. Then again, isn't that a prerequisite for drawing a WND paycheck?
