Michelle Malkin's claim about 2 million protesters today "is a total myth"

Many of us tweeted back to Yunji de Nies, that this was a Malkin fabrication. In fact, Malkin hasn't changed this prevarication on her site and continues to perpetuate this myth.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong... but from what I see posted here... it seems that this is a defense of Michele Malkin???

Oh wait... I think I got it now... Michele Malkin made the claim that there was 2 million protesters? and this Yunji de Nies is calling her on it??

Maybe I'm tired or simply just distracted by the idea that the Glenn Beck 9/12 Project is in full swing?

She got that information from where most conservatives get it: she pulled it out of her ass.

Look at the aerial photos of the march. I kon't know how many marchers there were, but they filled Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House and Most of the Mall from the Capitol to the Lincoln Memorial.

This, by the way does not include all the various groups that gathered today in cities around the United States.

There were about 2,000 protestors at the capitol on July 4. Now just over two months later they filled Pennsylvania Ave and Much of the Mall. The polls show the majority of the people in the country are opposed to the direction congress and the administration are taking.

These are facts, loonz, I am a conservative and I didn't get them out of my posterior, although I can't say the same thing about some of the creative budget figures swirling around Cap and Trade, the Stimulous and Health "reform".

Clearly this story and AP photo shows only a few tens of thousands...

So how many people do you estimate were there? It looked like a million or so. Anyone have any firm numbers?

THis is scary!! There may have been 2 million protesters collectively around the country BUT some of the interviewees were
represented some views that had nothing to do with 9/12.

One woman was protesting the increase of Muslims in the USA

Another was proclaiming the death of the Judeo-Christian ethic and was proud of the rise "the new corporate risk taking" at which even Beck choked....

The world is laughing at us, sitting in front of their TV's, eating popcorn, laughing at us . . .

I live in DC. All the people kept marching all day long. I cried all day because some of the people marching are black. CMon, we people of color gots to stick together. My son he is gifted in math. He say 3.14 million. I knows he's right. My neighbor counts 300,000 black. (Tradors!) I know abc wrong with 2 Million because my boy is smart. Obama gots to keep spending the money in our black community. I talk with Acorn about getting my dream home. Almost done with paperwork! Kuz I never can afford one in this white world. I think I have your site figured out: If one wants to be substantive or talk about what actually happened instead of making snide comments about conservatives, one tends to get one's posts deleted.

Look at the photos of the 9/12 event people! Never mind who estimated what. Pennsylvania Avenue was filled with people from
the Capitol to the White House. The Mall was also filled around the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. Make your own estimate.
I have walked the Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue. To fill it up takes a large number of people.

If you underestimate the groundswell here you do so at your own peril.

The Red Line Metro train that I took into the city on 9-12 was so filled as it left the Shady Grove station - the furthest station from DC - that nobody could get on as it made it's way into the city.

I was 60 or so yards from the stage on Saturday and have pictures to prove the size of the crowd. I spoke to several officers as I was leaving and they said that the crowd estimates they had heard from their helicopter personnel - was 1.5 to 1.6 million. So Media Matters can continue to debate Michelle Malkin's claim of 2 million marchers, but you miss the point.

You can continue to deny. You can continue to denigrate those that attended. But you cannot stop what is happening. The pendulum has swung too far left, and the American people will correct this in 2010. It's not a Democrat or Republican issue. It's an issue about the future of America.

You can't expect to get the truth from our Liberal Media anyway. Todays media has no back bone, they are puppets of the government!
I was in Washington D.C. on 9/12 in front of the capitol building and there was at least 1.5 million Americans there to protest BIG GOVERNMENT. We came from all 50 states in cars, busses, planes, and trains, if you don't believe the crowd was that large go look at you tube, there are several videos to choose from, if you still don't believe after viewing them, then it is because you don't want to believe. We are the Americans who will save this country from the tyranny of this government, the only reason some can't see this tyranny is because they let someone else tell them what is going on instead of inventigating it for themselves, after all that is what the Government wants; a bunch of little bobble headed liberals who think what the Government tells them to. Politicians and the media can lie all they want to, the truth will eventually make it's self known. WE THE PEOPLE WILL BE HEARD!!! If our message was not heard loud and clear this time then we will come back again and again.

Yep...2 million.
