More RedState reporting wizardry

September 23, 2009 11:39 am ET by Eric Boehlert

Convinced that the possibly stolen contact list of emails and phone numbers belonging to ACORN's CEO represents the key that will unlock far-reaching empire that the cash-strapped ACORN represents, right-wing blogger Erick Erickson returns today with another installment in his (barely coherent) guilt-by-association marathon.

Following the leads provided by the magical contact list, Erickson thinks he's onto a blockbuster story which, to any sane observer, seems to be that activists often keep in touch with one another via phone calls and emails. But he's got bigger ideas. And boy, this contact list only convinces Erickson there's more to the story. Way more [emphasis added]:

For many years it has been speculated that SEIU [union] and ACORN share a common foundation. This seems to suggest as much. In fact, in at least one appearance on the contacts list, an SEIU official has an ACORN email address.

Jackpot. A single SEIU official has a single ACORN email address. Uncanny. It's like Erickson's now Woodward and Bernstein rolled into one.

Holy moly batman, better get out the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force out. This is all out war. Bomb the SEIU, storm ACORN, this is the end of freedom and the country as we know it.

I'm headed to the mountains with my survival pack.

Indeed. If Erickson can get this breathless over such minutia, what will happen if he finds the actual evidence he wants? He won't be able to breathe at all. Well, we can hope.

In Erickson's defense, as anybody who is aware of Halliburton will tell you, ONE phone number is plenty provided it is the right phone number. Right, Mr. Cheney?

Let me just say as a former caseworker who worked with the substance abuse and mental health population in my community I kept a phone number/email list of EVERY other community organization in the area. From The Salvation Army to Catholic Charities, ACORN to Meals on Wheels, also the many home health aids and visiting nurses agencies which by the way many of the workers/nurses are SEIU members.

Just about anyone who works with the public would have these phone numbers-- I am sure in many cities parol officers and would often contact these agencies on behalf of someone in the community they serve

Oh yeah and off topic my hubby just told me while speaking at the UN- Gaddaffi refered to President Obama as "his son- Africas son" LOL OH boy get ready for the Birther, wingnut explosion to begin! LOL

The facts about your contacts as a caseworker are probably not surprising to those of us who understand the real story is that the right wing media is trying to create a story.

And you facts will probably have no effect on anybody who believes ACORN is a story, or that Glen Beck's charts mean anything.

This is the kind of garbage that grows from an SEIU official having an ACORN email address to SEIU officials have ACORN email addresses. I'm sure the further it gets from the source, the more distorted it will be.

Am I surprised that at least one ACORN person has an SEIU email address? No. By that logic, I am sure you can link numerous organizations to each other. Reading this kind of reporting is like playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon... I am surprised that Glenn Beck doesn't feature on his show Six Degrees of Barack Obama... but now that I mentioned it, you'll probably be seeing that on his program's chalk board!
