Right-wing blogger wonders if murdered census worker was a pedophile

September 29, 2009 8:02 am ET by Eric Boehlert

What far-right bloggers lack in common decency them make up for in blinding ignorance. And FDL's right, this is just beyond belief, even for the morally-challenged GOP blogosphere.

The blogger is Dan Riehl and his twisted premise about the census worker who was recently tortured to death in Kentucky and was found with "fed" scrawled across his chest, is this:

Was Census Worker Bill Sparkman A Child Predator?

Classy the way Riehl puts the dead man's full name right in the headline next to "child predator," right?

Keep in mind, Riehl quickly admits he doesn't have the slightest idea why the census worker was killed, and that the "child predator" thing is just, y'know, a hypothetical. He's simply "speculating" and "keeping an open mind." But he's gonna float it anyway. And then he's gonna open up his comment section to more right-wing crazies who are invited to invent conspiracy theories blaming the murdered  census worker for his own death.

Question: Is anybody within the right-wing blogosphere going to denounce this kind of heartless idiocy from a high-profile hate merchant like Riehl?

UPDATED: Right-winger Roger Hedgecock, based on no facts, suggests the census worker was killed because of a "our still open border with Mexico."

the lack of intellegence is absolutely stunning.
They found the Census worked with his hands and feet bound, naked, gagged with some sort of "red cloth" stuffed into his mouth, and with duct tape over his mouth and eyes.

Many posters on Glenn Beck's site are claiming "it is obvious that the death was a suicide."

Lack of intelligence, indeed. As Keith Olbermann said the other night, "if you're going to fake your own crucifixion, remember that you will only be able to drive in two of the nails."

Lack of intelligence, sure. But what strikes me about these people is their shocking lack of integrity and decency.

I don't know who Dan Riehl is, but I now know he is a failure as a human being.

I was told yesterday that liberals bully people to get their way...

To me, it seems that is a conservative tactic. Increasingly, it seems that conservatives just "float" ideas, until they see which one works the best, and then they run with it.

Typical rightist tactic and one used every day by Becky Boy: questions "need" to be asked.

Wrong. Questions need to be asked by Riehl's decency.

The Conservatives have every reason to make this a suicide, killing a Federal employee who is performing their job is a Federal Crime punishable by death. These two citations were listed in another blog and show the statute and the punishment:

Where do these guys come up with this stuff? It is utterly amazing to me on a daily basis, and they'll just claim, "Hey, I was just asking a question..." Yeah, OK, sure, based on what exactly? Nothing. Pure, utter, and complete speculation.

      No decency whatsoever.

Let's just assume though that this guy was a child predator, does this justify his hanging death at the hands of this person, or persons yet to be found? No, it does not. And of course, once again, there is no proof that this man was a child predator, but yeah, this slime ball is just asking a question.

I can't wait until they find the person, or persons who did this, and find out that they've got the Glenn Beck and Michelle Backman chronicles on their bookshelves, and then FoxNews will have an ever increasing body count on their hands.

This is easily one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. Police can look at whatever angle pops up. That doesn't mean that it's appropriate to give a theory any credence without something solid to substantiate it, especially when it maligns the victim.

And I just love the rationale here.
No teaching degree, no full-time means of employment and no wife or kids so far as I am aware. But he certainly did gravitate towards children.
What the hell does this have to do with anything? Like any number of pedophiles aren't married with children of their own? Wouldn't it be a good idea to find out such a basic fact about the victim before using it as grounds for speculation anyway? And you can't want to teach kids for the sake of it, or what?
The condition of the body and his being naked also seems curious. Why strip someone down to their socks only to kill them?
To send a message and humiliate the victim, maybe?

So I don't get this. People with no degree and no full time employment can't volunteer, or act in a capacity towards kids? He can't donate his time, or be employed to help children because he has none of his own and no wife? Amazing with these guys.

And yes, stripping someone down naked, and hanging them was meant to humiliate the victim even more. I'm sure he didn't do it himself.

Is it true Dan Riehl is a Fascist Nazi?

I'm just wondering if it might be true that Dan Riehl is a Fascist Nazi. Perhaps he has been indoctrinated by the American Nazi group and he is not responsible for what he posts on his blog. His mind shrinking blog could be used by Nazis to try and confuse those who read his blog into believing that Dan Riehl is a Nazi. After all he considers it a possibility that Mr.Sparkman was responsible for his own murder so why is it not also a possibilty that Dan Riehl is a Fascist Nazi? Perhaps if Dan Riehl is a Nazi his blog will get even more traffic since if Dan Riehl is a Nazi his readers would include other Nazis. It wouldn't be too far of a leap of logic to think the people who read Dan Riehl's blog are Nazis too. If Dan Riehl is a Nazi then the people who read Dan Riehl's blog are Nazis too. Perhaps Dan Riehl is a Nazi and the people who read his blog are Nazis. Otherwise why would people think Dan Riehl is a Nazi unless his readers where Nazis too? So if Dan Riehl is a Nazi then it would explain why the readers of Dan Riehl's blog are Nazis. I'm just saying...
