"Right Wing" blogger calls out the "lunacy" behind Obama hate

September 30, 2009 4:06 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

It's a must-read post by Rick Moran at his conservative site, Right Wing Nut House.

Headline:

"‘SILENCE EQUALS ASSENT:’ WHY POINTING OUT CONSERVATIVE LUNACY MUST BE DONE

Moran does not hold back as he eviscerates the unhinged hate rhetoric that now powers large portions of the conservative movement. But he also goes after those who remain silent within GOP circles about the "lunacy" that's unfolding.

Writes Moran:

Trying to argue rationally with someone who believes Obama is a Nazi, or a Communist is akin to arguing with a stone wall. And at least the wall is smart enough not to keep opening its mouth and further proving how irrational it is...The emotional state of conservatism now coupled with the hyper partisan atmosphere in the country (and the already excessive ideological nature of the opposition to Obama) is a combination that afflicts the reason centers of the mind and is proving to be a block to thinking logically. What is there to “fear” about Obama and the Democrats? They are proposing the same liberal crap that the left has been promoting for more than 30 years. We have fought them before using reason and logic. What is so different now?

I don’t know how to say it any other way; those conservatives who don’t see a problem with this, or don’t think it “representative” of a significant portion of the conservative movement, or who don’t believe this sort of thing should be taken out, examined, and criticized as forcefully as possible are fooling themselves into believing this kind of thinking doesn’t matter. It is poison coursing through the body of conservatism and we either use reason and logic as an antidote or it will end up killing us.

Wonder what Glenn Beck and Jonah Goldberg have to say.

Glenn Beck won't say anything. Hate means $$$$$$ and lots of it. He gets a tremendous high off of all the attention he's getting. Like Joy Behar recently said, Beck used to be an alcoholic and he's replaced his addiction to alcohol with an addiction to the attention he gets from being a race baiting fear monger.

I think it's either that or he's addicted to the money he's getting by pushing the conspiracy and doom theories.

Beck didn't "used to be an alcoholic." He is an alcoholic who has stopped drinking. Alcoholism is a life-time disorder. Like many who stop drinking, he's dry, but he's not sober. He's a dry drunk. He still exhibits the symptoms of his alcoholism, he's just changed his fix.

A great service would be done to public discourse if Beck would just start an early retirement and crawl into a Stoly bottle but apparently the buzz that Beck gets from his new addiction is more powerful than the one that he had to alcohol.

        Remember,
This Rodeo Clown has got millions in the bank already. He is part of the untouchable elite.

He could walk away today, or tomorrow, and live out his life in complete luxury. It's just a game played by a corporate punk. I would imagine to his great amusement.

He's surely looking self-satisfied these days...which I take as a good sign of his impending professional demise. Glennn Beck is the worst of talk radio...but on television. I don't think his current, hyper-schtick is going to wear well with people. And he's got that dark side that peeks through, too... I believe his current ratings are as much the product of the tea baggers, and just plain curiosity, as anything else. It won't last. People will grow tired but Beck's ego will continue to grow and his own colleagues at FOX may end up chopping him at the knees. Beck is an A-hole...

Futile would have been if Moran had remained silent. We need more RNC/conservative people speaking out against the right wing lunacy.

First it was Bernie Goldberg. Now, it's a right wing blogger. Too early to say if it's a pattern but it's a step in the right...er, CORRECT direction. Who's next...?

Skousen has now turned on the Rodeo Clown.

Skousen has just completed a press conference in Dalton, Alabama...

He lashed out at Beck for refusing to call Obama a nazi on his show. He said this proves "Beck is just a tool of the liberal media." He also called for the Alabama militia to storm Fox News headquarters and take Rupert Murdoch hostage.

David Frum has been distancing himself from the lunacy for awhile. But we have to recognize that most sane conservatives will likely adopt one of two strategies: (1) leave the movement or (2) keep silent, hoping the lunacy will eventually abate. To speak up is to invite what Terry Krepel---who tracks several conservative news and opinion sites at his excellent ConWebWatch---calls "heathering." That is, heaping opprobrium on right wingers who dare to question what they shouldn't question.

Little Green Footballs has been doing the same. Seriously, go check it out, they've been all over the Newsmax columnist who is advocating for a military coup.

Yeah LGF is a sane site... It sticks out in contrast to the vastness of this sea of paranoia.

Speaking of elite, how many elitists exist in the Democrat Party??? John Kerry is one. On another site, I love to tear open and rip into the lunacy of both sides. It causes me much laughter to read what they do. The conservatives and Republicans are soooooo not what they once were. It's very comical!

Although I think calling out the right is cool, where does he come up with this crap. The right has been using fear tactics and lies everytime the left has been in chargs. (Medicar is socialism)

The rights main play has always been to scream and shout about non-issues, so that everyone wouldn't notice that they don't have a workable plan.

So when will Moran be called in to make his abject apology to Lord Lardbutt?
