Fox Nation embeds video calling Jennings a "Pervert"

October 08, 2009 11:24 am ET by Media Matters staff

Under the headline "WH Laughs Off Questions on Czars," The Fox Nation embedded a video titled "Gibbs Is Asked About the Pervert School Czar." In the video, WorldNetDaily.com White House correspondent Les Kinsolving asks Press Secretary Robert Gibbs for his response to a Washington Times editorial's headline, "Obama's lewd schools czar," then asks him whether President Obama is "unconcerned about Kevin Jennings' salute of Harry Hays [sic], who publicly praised NAMBLA?" As Media Matters for America has documented, Fox News and its websites have repeatedly smeared Jennings, a Department of Education official.

Jennings is gay, right? Right wing exremists consider homosexuality to be a perversion. They associate lewd and promiscuous behavior with all homosexual people.

What two consenting adults do in a bedroom, isn't lewd behavior or perversion. When a school official tells a 16 yr old kid who just admitted to having sex with an older man---hope you were wearing a condom---that's a perversion. If CNN or ABC broke the story, everyone would be all up in arms, but since Fox broke the story, and the Van Jones story and the ACORN story---the media dismisses it as right-wing propaganda. Oh, my how the times have changed! Repubs walk off a cliff to defend Bush's Patriot Act and Guantanamo Bay. Now we have the extreme left defending ANYONE and EVERYONE who has ever had a relation to Obama or his administration. This is truly laughable, sad actually. Where is our America? Where is the media?

Just imagine any other TV "news" network labeling a White House staffer a "pervert." Imagine Katie Couric doing something like this. How would people react?

But no one (except us) bats an eye when Fox does it.

Being gay is not being a pervert. The Washington Times and FoxNation are trying to claim that Jennings is Hay, since they can't get him to quit or to be fired based upon the fact that he's gay.

But they want to get him fired because he's gay, and because he thinks that we need to educate kids to not be biased against gays. Just like we've had to educate kids to not be biased against blacks. We've made a lot of progress in teaching kids that the color of one's skin doesn't matter, but it'll still take a couple of generations to get rid of all the bigots over race. It's going to take a while to get rid of the stigma of being gay, but we need to do it, and they can't stand that!

It's homophobia that has them so wound up.
