Report: Limbaugh to judge 2010 Miss America pageant

On October 8, Fox News' Greta Van Susteren posted on her blog:

The Miss America Organization (MAO) announced today that Rush Limbaugh has been named as one of the national judges for the 2010 Miss America Pageant, which will be held at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 30 and broadcast live on TLC. Limbaugh will be one of a panel of seven distinguished judges that will help decide which of the 53 contestants will capture the Miss America 2010 title and serve as the Goodwill Ambassador for the Children's Miracle Network, as well as introduce the first Go Green platform for MAO.

    distinguished: (adjective) marked by eminence, distinction, or excellence.
    eminent: (adjective) standing out so as to be readily perceived or noted.
    
    So, he has 'excellence in broadcasting' awards, and he is readily perceived. I suppose the definition could be stretched to fit, just like his pants.
    
    I just figured he has so much experience rushing to judgment of others that MAO figured he would be a perfect addition to their panel, but I could be wrong. It will be interesting to see reaction to this, given the reaction when people found out he was thinking of buying into a football team...

      Wasn't this the same "distinguished" title given to Perez Hilton when he was a judge? Anyone else see this as a concession to conservatives because of the brouhaha last year with the whole Miss CA kerfuffle?

    OK, So it tells me to refer to distintive... I think the 2nd definition actually fits:

  Well, I guess that's appropriate. I miss America, too, especially the one I knew in my youth and the one I swore allegiance to in the military. I don't recognize this country in Limbaugh humbug world.

    Neon, I was wondering how Boss Hogg was going to stand for being connected to Mao, I didn't even catch the "Go Green" part.

  These pageants are asinine enough, but someone who insults others by likening them to the female gender has no place judging women in a contest-- even a shallow one.

  I am happy for Rush. At least for one week, he can escape his selfmade prison and join some other kids and have some fun.
  My only concern is that he doesn't think the other judges have the same contestant in mind, will he begin to huff anf puff and call them names? I would hope not.
  
  Other people are saying that there is going to be a write in campaign to the advertisers (who are probably behind this because of ratings..at least people will talk about it for a while) stating that they will not watch or buy their products because Rush is woman-hater. It is also been mentioned in various cirles that Rush is looking for a 4th wife and figures this would be easy for him.
  
  Outsiders are also commenting that keeping him off the radio for a week would help America regain some dignity if only for a week.
  
  Insiders are saying that Rush sees the writing on the wall for the RadioWingNutz and will try to change his image because of the football stuff.
  
  Imagine, if the "drive-by" ruins Rushs' chances for the purchase of the Rams and get him knock-off the pageant stuff. Maybe then he will realize that he reaped what he sowed. As someone else around here wrote:
  THE CHICKENS COME HOME TO ROOST...
  
  If Rush is tossed aside, it will be Obamas' fault. I hope so.

        I'm not sure. I just hear Rush and Levin and others using the word "statist" to describe people who don't hate America the way right wingers do.
