          regressiveflatoutwrong,

No I don't hate peace, just marvel at the morons that morons choose as one's forwarding the cause of peace. Yessir (that's my baby) Arafat as wanting peace? The prize is diminished by the lot listed above and others. This is quite a statement about the political interests being served rather than the cause of peace.

An 'award' given consideration just a few days into someone's term his pretty lame and not serious. And again, an award given to the any of the likes above pretty much demonstrates the incestuousness of leftists throughout the world.

But congrats prez, have a happy with the prize! This is just the kind of award you deserve and other lefties would appreciate.

            proudconservative:

First, you're conflating the date candidates for the Peace Prize must be submitted with the date they decide which candidate actually will receive the prize. But you know that, you just don't want to admit it. Remember, the last Republican president who won the prize was Teddy Roosevelt, who left the Republican party because it wasn't progressive enough. Neither you (judging by your history of absurd posts) nor your party works for peace, you're interested in power and money. but you know that, too, you just won't admit it.

I'm not sure that I agree with Obama getting the prize, but the Nobel Academy decides who gets it and why, not either of us. Did you even look at their statement? The fact is that we will be cleaning up after the debacle that was the Bush presidency for years, and Obama has already changed the game. Did you listen to his speech about nuclear disarmament? (Before you criticize that, remember that Reagan was in favor of it, too.) Why should anybody listen to the anti-humanitarian, anti-science, anti-critical thinking, pro-pseudoreligious "Christian" extremist Republican party (the same party that said last week that the reason we didn't get the Olympics in Chicago was because they didn't like Obama and this week is saying that Europe worships Obama) Republican party or their apologists?

Obama getting the gift is a tremendous honor. You and the other hatriots can't change that, so you do anything you can do de-legitimize the Peace Prize. How adult of you.

I think a legitimate point a lot of people are trying to make is that the Nobel Peace Prize has become a joke. There are so many people out there who work every day for peace and accomplish alot. Obama just won an election to replace someone who didnt promote peace. I cant think of one thing Gore did, Arafat refused Clinton's Camp David peace deal because he'd be killed at home, and Obama hasnt done much but talk. I dont doubt he'll do something deserving, but this doesnt do much justice to the people who really promote peace. The Prize is becoming a joke. Compare these guys to someone like Mandela, and only Carter has even a semblance of a case for the Prize

This is a paragraph full of nonsense.

The Nobel Peace Prize hasn't become a joke. The Republican Party, on the other hand....?

Obama has vision and has been an inspiration to many, and it is his vision that has gotten him the prize, and the committee has explained why giving this prize to someone with worthy and laudable aspirations is more valuable than giving it to someone who actually has already accomplished their goals - it's the inspiration to others and the leadership for the world's best interests that's the reason he got the prize.

Obama has promoted peace. You're lying when you say that he hasn't.

I dont know what you are saying here. There isnt any substance to it. And I didnt say he hasnt promoted peace so I havent lied. "Vision" and "inspiration" are subjective intangibles, and anyone can have their opinion about those

            Yessir (that's my baby) Arafat

Hilarious. It's too bad the Nobel "morons" don't acknowledge moronic humor.

I vote Carter. Arafat tried to stop a stalemate. Carter probably did prevent a much wider war all across the Middle East..... but Obama may yet (in the next 7 years) earn the top spot in this poll.

When Obama took office, we lived in a world of go it alone, bi-lateral agreements, every nation looks out for themselves and the military is the solution for all problems. That Obama has changed how the world works to a framework where nations work together to solve the worlds so quickly and smoothly does make it easy to overlook what an accomplishment this has been.

He has reached out to the Muslin world saying the Great Satan is not your enemy while telling them bluntly Americas bond with Israel is unbreakable. He has gotten the nations most friendly and of most economic importance to Iran to tell Iran it's current course will have consequences they are ready to enforce. This isn't just restoring America in the eyes of the world, this is, can I say it, real diplomatic accomplishments with real meaning.

i like it how he refers to obama as our "supreme leader". what is that supposed to insinuate? so, he's mr. independent(dobbs), but before he even disagrees with obama, he begins with a slight by calling him " supreme leader ",insinuating that obama is a communist. where is the balance at cnn? there is no solid credible liberal voice on that network, just conservatives and concensus building moderates parading as liberal(borger).

What these a-holes seem to forget is that Arafat won his prize, along with 2 other people. In 1994 Arafat won along with, Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin.

Lest we forget, Peres and Rabin were, yes, Israelis. They make it sound as if Arafat won it alone, and then bludgeon people over the head that he was leader of the PLO, but, when he, and Rabin, and Peres won it, they were making strides to make peace in their region of the world.

I like their little barb about, "Our Supreme Leader". What happened to respecting the office of the President? I never liked President Bush much, but I always tried to refer to him as, President Bush.

After being called 'the Ozone man' by Bush and Defying the American voices on the issue of Global warming, el nino and la nina, Bush went on to b tch slap the american public. I would have Al Gore get not just the peace prize but the econ scien prize. And if the election would not have been stolen from him, there is noway we would have the Patriot act.
