Come clean, already. You're beef is that these organizations aren't faith based. Otherwise, they'd be as pure as driven snow.

Yeah, and did you notice how many of these groups are minority organizations? Unbelievable. No wonder they had only 36 black delegates out of the total of 2380 at the RNC last summer.

Omigod. Yet another example of people who don't know what they are talking about trying to educate others!

There was never a time when ACORN or AARP or any other Census Bureau partner was ever going to "be out collecting sensitive information on Americans."

That's a strawman argument. They were there, as partners, to help encourage full participation with the census.

2010 Census Partners are government, non-profit, corporate or community organizations that have formally pledged their commitment to share the 2010 Census message and mobilize their constituents in support of the Census Bureau's goal of achieving a complete count.

So what would stop them from "zapping off a copy of personal information"? Well, the fact that they won't have that info to COPY would be the main way to stop them from copying it!

Hey, you beat me too that. Ah, shucks. ;-)

I like how they single out 22 organizations out of the hundreds, if not thousands, of organization and businesses that are partnering with them.

Not to mention that have packets to help the "partners" spread the word.
That includes packets designed for "faith based" organizations.

So, another false strawman thrown out again. We really don't expect anything else, do we?

Ignoring for the moment the moronic suggestion that those are all a bunch of liberal organizations, what organizations that can be considered conservative did he leave off the list? Are we to believe that conservative organizations were not allowed to assist in the census?

      Here are more partners:

American Baptist Churches of the South
American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the U.S.A
        Ancestry.com / The Generations Network
American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC)
        Applied Materials, Inc.
        Atmos Energy
        Avon Products, Inc.
        Blinded Veterans Association
        Boat People SOS
Boys and Girls Club of America
        Boy Scouts of America
        Boise Cascade Holdings Corporation
        Catholic Charities USA
Center for Business and Economic Research
Church Of God In Christ, Inc.
        Coin Laundry Association
        Carmax
        Carmike Cinemas
        Central City Productions, Inc.
        Choctaw Manufacturing and Development Corporation
        Coca-Cola Company
        Consolidated Edison
        Cox Enterprises, Inc.
        CVS Corporation (CVS Caremark)

That's just a few selected from A-C. The right will be well represented in the census efforts. Can we trust them not to misuse the data?

But they won't have access to the data either. No partners will.

You're probably right, but I'd still feel better if someone kept a close eye on the Coin Laundry Association.

I am not "probably" right. Read the link I posted above. None of the partners from either side of the aisle are going to have access to the data. And I understand you were joking about the Coin Laundry Assoc, but the "probably" part of your comment was not appropriate.

But if you read the comments on the BigGovernment site, you'll see that this posting led people to think that these partners were going to be helping collect the data. They aren't.

Personally, I think we need to be more worried about:

American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the U.S.A

If they are Russian, they must be communist/socialis/fascist.

Oh God. I'm actually part Carpatho-Ruthenian. We're also called "Little Russians" because we moved West from Russia to what is now Slovakia. That side of my family has some of the most right wing, conservative folks you'd ever want to meet.

The problem was, during the McCarthy Era, the rabid right thought that all Eastern European Americans were closet commies, when, in fact, most of them are just the opposite!

D@mn right: Everyone knows the Coin Laundry Association is in the pocket of Big Quarter. Next thing you know, we'll all need quarters to get in our front doors and such.

Thanks,Sciencebuff. Funny, I had the same instinct as soon as I read "here's a partial list..", to check out what sort of cherrypicking was done.

I wonder what percentage of BigGovernment fans were skeptical enough to look into it? I'd guess most of them don't have the same sort of impuilses that critical thinking causes.

They're probably way too busy breathing their collective sighs of relief over ACORN being eliminated. Suckers.

I did, too, but I knew the meaning of the word "partial" in this case. It's a very partial list.

What is this world coming to?
