UPDATED: Because Politico is really just a GOP bulletin board

October 22, 2009 3:24 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

It's a two-fer, as the staff at Politico continues its noble tradition of typing up as news whatever conservatives are talking about.

First up Mike Allen who didn't simply report on how Sen. Lamar Alexander had given a speech on Wednesday and claimed the Obama White House now resembled the dirty trickster from the Nixon years and that Obama was busy compiling an "enemies list." Nope, Allen's article went one better--he reproduced Alexander's entire senate speech; all 37 paragraphs.

Then came Eamon Javers who wrote an article about the fact that the Drudge Report has been linking to lots of articles about the weakness of the U.S. dollar. That's is. That was the news; Drudge had linked to 18 articles this month about the dollar.

Only in Politico and DC beltway press does Matt Drudge carry any presitige.

Even after all these years, they refresh his web page hourly and report on the dubious garbage he links to from the British tabloid press and conervative U.S. media.

It's a joke and the DC press love it & eat it up.

No, the Drudge article was questioning whether Drudge's linking of all those articles had anything to do with the weakening of the dollar. Still an inane story, but you can at least correctly report what the story was about.

Wrong, ky-dim. The article was exactly as Eric presented it, as anyone can quickly read from the headline and lede. The idea of Drudge's possibly weakening the dollar himself was brought up once and just as quickly shot down.

Just like you've been, yet again.
