Surprise! Michelle Malkin mocks David Axelrod and his disabled daughter

October 26, 2009 1:50 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

Obama Derangement Syndrome truly knows no bounds in Malkin's hate-driven world. It's a demented zone where children are always targeted for political attack. Incredibly, Malkin today unveils dripping contempt for White House aide David Axelrod and his epileptic daughter. Why? Because Axelrod had the nerve to appear on 60 Minutes and discuss the disease.

Here's Malkin in full-shriek mode:

So is White House senior adviser/Astroturf master/Big Pharma beneficiary David Axelrod, who appeared on 60 Minutes with Katie Couric this weekend to talk about the epilectic daughter he never sees because he's so busy trying to salvage his boss's government health care takeover plans. The AP dutifully recycled the story -- which itself had been recycled from February's Parade magazine.

Stay classy Michelle.

How dare Media Matters attack Michelle Malkin's 1st Amendment Rights like this!!1111one!

I expect outrage from all the usual suspects regarding this vile assault upon the Freedom of The Press.

      Ruth Marcus? Jake Tapper?

A nation turns its lonely eyes to you!

Notice how right wing talk radio hosts and right wing bloggers are so hateful and dismissive. It seems that if you derive a paycheck based on the requisite volume of words that pour out of your head, you may have no filter to moderate the civility of your ideas. There is a reason that this stuff is call "red meat"

I hold the left wing commentators just as accountable. I once tuned in to Air America on XM radio, and turned off the show's host, who was wasting air time with sarcasm and snarky babble that assumed his listeners were full of the same Kool-aid. I want substance and civil discourse that assumes the opposition is listening. Otherwise it is just "red meat".

Me thinks you missed the sarcasm ifthethunderdontgetya™³²®© was using in his/her post...

His/her use of the word 'vile' should have given it away... that's alright thou... we all miss those moments every so often... I most certainly have in the past here as well, so no biggie.

Malkin being a minority and a woman should be a bit more grounded in her ideology... one would think?

Oh nevermind... money and the ever present need to have their 15 minutes of fame extended over and over can be a rather powerful drug... just ask Rush!

Sorry? Attack? No one is saying Ms. Malkin does not have the right to make this comment. Did you hear that? No, Media matters is reporting on the content of Ms Malkins comments. Just because you don't like the content of the reporting (the truth) does not make it an attack on Ms Malkins civil liberties. But I think you already know this.

While reverse outrage is a fine time tested GOP strategum... it doesn't really carry with folks who are motivated enough to suss out the truth.

Perhaps (and this is just a suggestion) since you clearly have a need to be OUTRAGED.. and that is your right. You should comment over at FOX. They eat this drivel up and will be more than happy to feed your outrage/hatred. No need for critical thought required.

Best of luck and may you some day find peace.

What a dirt bag. As one who has 2 family members with epilepsy I know first hand how debilitating this can be. Not just the stigma but the life altering treatments and medications that go with it. Unfortunately Axelrods daughter not only suffers from seizures, but also has faced developmental challenges. At 28, she is just now controlling her seizures with new medications. Malkin is a horrible human being for using this in a healthcare smear.

How is this mocking her, or displaying "dripping contempt" for her? For Axelrod, sure, but Malkin merely mentions the daughter (accusing Axelrod, I take it, of using her to win sympathy), with no perjorative insinuations about her or her condition that I can see (contrast Limbaugh-Michael J. Fox).

"Epilectic?" "Say classy Michelle?" It's called "proofreading;" you might want to give it a try.

Should have seen this coming when she attacked Michelle Obama's father who died of a dehibilitating disease. How she is still a recognized voice is beyond me. Wonder if she'll be invited back on Meet The Press. These folks are beyond childish, just imagine if they get back in power and create the type of country they want.

        Exactly, Mike.

If she wants to have a voice in the debate we have over political issues in our nation, she has a choice to be reasonable and not be offensive like this. Otherwise, she shouldn't get coverage by anyone in the MSM.

It's not the opposition we're trying to shut down. It's nonsense like this that everyone should be willing to get rid of whichever side of the aisle it comes from!

I hate to say it, but my my initial reaction to the garbage that comes out of this woman's beak always borders on something slightly racist or bigoted. There's a special place in hell for people like her. How could anyone who's among a minority group be so willfully ignorant about the legacy of bigotry in this country and so enthusiastically support the status quo? How could someone of Asian descent argue FOR the detention of Asian Americans during WWII?

I know it's wrong to harbor these sentiments but at least I'm honest enough to ademit it. Get back on porch Michele, you'll get your bowl of gruel come supper time.

Speaking of which, or witch, Malkin would have never made it past the nuns. They can sniff out stink a mile away.

Should anyone hope that Malkin ever has a child with a horrible disease..ABSOLUTELY NOT. Should she ever have that happen will her outlook be the same...ABOSLUTELY NOT. Will the vile successor to her care, ABSOLUTELY NOT.

It is invective like this that makes me wonder when this became the standard for debating(?) differeances in opinion in America.

They say they're for family values and having decency, then they do this.

Just like the GOP say they're for family values and Christian values, then 30 senators vote against Sen. Frankens "Anti-rape" amendment bill...

Yeah but Michelle is a media figure who can defend herself. Hell, she needs to be attacked but Michelle on the otherhand attacks people who cannot defend themselves. I'm sure Axelrod doesn't mind being attacked by such a dimwit but I'm sure we all agree that his family and family matters should be left alone. Now before you go on about how the liberal media has done it in the past that is wrong too. Nobody should do it. Period.
