Weekly Standard's Goldfarb asks if Lieberman is "the greatest senator ever"

October 27, 2009 3:33 pm ET by Media Matters staff

In an October 27 blog post - headlined "Joementum 2008?" - former McCain campaign aide and Weekly Standard online editor Michael Goldfarb writes:

Is he the greatest senator ever? He fought for victory in Iraq, he's fighting for victory in Afghanistan, and he's fighting to save us all from Obamacare. Who needs Olympia Snowe when you've got Joementum?

      As Colbert would say:

"Joe Lieberman: Great senator, or the greatest senator?"

His fight against Obamacare will probably be about as effective as the other two.

Is Michael Goldfarb the most transparent hack ever?

Hey, I'm just posing the question.

Aren't these a lot of the same people who labeled Lieberman "Loserman" when he was running for VP with Gore?

Yeah, but he was in the 'democrat party' then, now that he's 'swallowed the coolaid' for the Neocons, he's 'rehabilitated'.

So he's the greatest senator ever, Goldfarb? Well, who is #2 then? Are you willing to tell us?

"Rick, we both know who Number 2 is."

Yeah, I don't believe a word you ever say, Goldie, and I never will.

Thanks for the reminder. Oddly enough, whenever I think of Goldfarb, I think of "Number 2."

As for his question, I think that Lieberman may well be the greatest senator ever... if you count only senators from Connecticut, and then limit them to the independents. Then, by golly, Joe has a shot at being the best!

Back during the Lieberman-Lamont race, I just couldn't see the word "Joementum" without almost involuntarily laughing. Still can't really. The whole word/cocept is so ridiculous!

probably because he agreed when goldfarb justified the killing of women and children as justifiable means to a successful military end

Nothing wrong with asking the question. The correct answer, of course, is "not by a long shot." Goldfarb's implied "yes" answer is definitely misinformation.
