WashPost's Dan Balz: Only the Democratic losses last night were significant

On Tuesday, Beltway denizens were stressing that Tuesday's three major off-year elections were all important, and if Dems lost all three it would be very bad news and tell us all kinds of important details about Obama's political standing.

Well, check that. Dems, in something of a shocker, won the upstate N.Y. Congressional race in a very red district, while losing two governors races in N.J. and VA. So what's Balz's spin at the WashPost? Only the VA. and N.J. race are worth dissecting; only the VA. and N.J. contests tell us anything useful about the political mood of the country. (i.e. It's "ominous" for Democrats.)

      Ms. Weymouth's real customers don't want health care reform.

        Yes while Republicans continue to work towards that smaller tent of far right radicals.....gettin older every year !!

        Keep on alienating young and minority voters!!!!It is working!

      It's again unanimous across the media. This is all very bad news for Barack Obama, and great news for the GOP.

      I told my husband this morning that after the media talked endlessly about NY 23, now that the dem. won they are trying to sweep the whole thing under the rug and pretend it does not exist.
      Just like nothing was ever discussed about CA-10.
      Only the races that repubs won are they talking because it plays up the pre-written storyline they have been pushing: "the country hates Obama and the races reflect this.
      Do not pay attention to the exit polls, by the way"
