RedState's Erickson claims purpose of Bachmann rally is "to tell Nancy Pelosi and the Congress to send Obama to a death panel"

November 05, 2009 7:00 am ET by Media Matters staff

From Erick Erickson's November 5 post on RedState.com:

Last Thursday, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) urged Americans to go to Washington today and protest Obamacare. Well, Mark Levin picked up the charge and others joined her.

Today, thousands will pour into Washington to tell Nancy Pelosi and the Congress to send Obama to a death panel (that's section 1233 of the original legislation). If you need details on where to go in D.C. or if you can't go, but want to show up at your Congresscritter's local office, go here.

And Americans owe a huge thank you to Michele Bachmann for sounding the call to action.

UPDATE: Erickson has since changed the text of his post. Below is a screenshot of the original.

The right has a PAC that's providing free transportation to most of the people that will attend this event.

People weren't willing to attend on their own, without paid transportation. Let's see how many attendees she actually gets.

But he just couldn't resist pushing the death panel myth again, could he? As I've said many times, they push that nonsense so that we won't discuss the real benefits patients can get from the end-of-life counselling that Medicare will provide and pay for! They have to derail that conversation, or more people would understand the benefits of reform and they would go for it.

Did anyone read the Nicholas Kristoff http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/opinion/05kristof.html?ref=opinion about healthcare reform? If not, you should.

People like Erick Erickson have to deceive their readers, and FoxNews has to disrespect the truth for their viewers, and Rush Limbaugh has to mislead his listeners on the topic of healthcare reform, since the facts have a liberal bias.

Here's one example from Kristoff's column. The right can't afford to be honest with the American public about this issue, and so they lie about differing health outcomes or death panels.

There is one American health statistic that is strikingly above average: life expectancy for Americans who have already reached the age of 65. At that point, they can expect to live longer than the average in industrialized countries. That’s because Americans above age 65 actually have universal health care coverage: Medicare.

The MSM will not have the b*lls to call this astroturf.

But when people do not even drive to DC and need corporate-funded buses to drive them there --- that is NOT "grassroots"

Food his here, over at the SEIU/ACORN TABLE.

When Obama came to Portsmouth NH, they bused them in from other states, gave them shirts, signs and lunches, and paid the $15/hr.

Somehow, I didn't see that today... I have never been contacted by an insurance company or any group.

            But you can dream.

NO proof of any of this..not a bit.

Bachmann announced this on TV, so what? You have MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNBC and CNN a**wiping Obama and that's fine with you right?

And still no proof that any insurance companies were involved. They have never contacted my state group.

We are not paid by anyone but you can continue in your delusional thoughts. You are lemmings after all.

Erickson is on the city council here in our middle GA city, and he poisons all political discourse by making false allegations and pushing outright lies. The majority of the people here are Fuchs Noose viewers and listen to rw radio entertainers, and Erickson can always be depended upon to assist them in making sure the rw talking points are spread far and wide throughout the area. He recently opposed the local police department's attempt to join the Teamsters Union, and, as usual, he didn't have any facts to support his opposition, so he resorted to name-calling and making extreme "suggestions." At the next city council meeting, union members showed up in force and demanded an apology. He had called the police officers "keystone cops" and union members "thugs," and suggested that the city fire all police officers if they were successful in their efforts to unionize. During the cc meeting, Erickson didn't look up from his laptop while the union members told him exactly what they thought of him, and of course, he refused to apologize. The best thing to come out of the whole deal was a warning from the union that if Erickson expected to run for another political office, the union would be there in force to oppose him. The next best thing is that Erickson has announced he will not seek re-election to his seat. Even some republicans here hate his guts and think he is political poison. He loves to stir things up from the sidelines and accepts no blame when his efforts yield bad results. Erickson is very bad news.

Sorry for such a long link - it's really just a search results page from the Macon Telegraph site.

I had not heard that Eric has ruled out running for another term. He may be unscrupulous but maybe that shows he isn't completely stupid.

Dell Dolly you are really a sadly mendacious creature.
People were willing to fly there on their own and they did. No transportation was provided to them from anyone.
You can spew this nonsense all you want, but it's a pipe dream.

Please read my other posts about CERs. Even though you are stupid lemming, I truly hope you never have to face one from these totalitarian sheet wearing Nazis in the White House!

They'll get a dozen buses worth of conspiracy wackos showing up for this. That's not the real news here.

The important part of this story is we have yet another example of a Rightie using violent language directed toward Obama, e.g., "send Obama to a death panel..."

This is now the norm for our country's political discourse. Sickening.

Not one bit of astroturf... I'm sure the insurance companies are not going to spend all this money to pay for people to come to DC.

They did not pay for me.. I've never heard from one or any group.

Yeah, maybe advocating assassination as a "call to action" was a tad off the mark.

Thank you, RedState.com, for confirming what many of us here at MMfA have long suspected: That Mark Levin is actually a twelve year old girl!

Seriously, the right wingnuts are not good liars, and it turns out, they are not very fluent in their native language either. Mr. Erickson, you could really use an editor just to give your writing the occasional once over. Thanks for not using one. This particular gaffe was priceless!

It's one thing to go a little over the top during an impassioned speech, or to stretch the truth while firing up a crowd of believers, but these goofballs can't get through a short, three paragraph web post without assassination imagery and a completely made-up (and de-bunked) trigger word like "death panel".

Republicans used to be disciplined propagandists. Now they've just decided to go 100% for the drooling paranoid demographic.

1)The statement that "The right has a PAC that's providing free transportation to most of the people that will attend this event."

A lie.. Not one person was transported there by anyone but themselves...you would love to think they are all employed by insurance companies too... not true

2)Check out CERs... death panels, or Councils, were established, funded and appointed thanks to the stimulus bill.

3)Funny how you sheet wearing progressives keep trying to pinpoint the leader or the party of this movement and you can't. You can't find someone to work your Alinsky Communism on... sad.

      Read this and WEEP:
      Remember this acronym: CER

The Stimulus Bill was written by the Apollo Group, and unread by our congressmen when they passed it.

According to David H. Janda, MD, orthopaedic Surgeon and author of “The Awakening of a Surgeon” the Stimulus Bill created, Federal Coordinating Council for Competitive Effectiveness Research, a lead rationing board to deny and ration care in direct opposition to the Hippocratic Oath! President Obama has already appointed 15 members and awarded that council an entire center.

According to this government website (the bios of council members are here also) http://www.hhs.gov/recovery/programs/os/cerbios.html

“Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) can improve care for all Americans and is an important element of President Obama’s health reform plan,” said HHS Spokeswoman Jenny Backus. “President Obama is committed to openness and transparency and the Coordinating Council will host open meetings and a listening session as it begins its important work.”

Comparative Effectiveness Research provides information on the relative strengths and weakness of various medical interventions. Such research will give clinicians and patients valid information to make decisions that will improve the performance of the U.S. health care system.

      CER Annual Report-draft

On page 15 in the Vision you find:

“Comparative Effectiveness Research has the potential to catalyze a patient-centered transformation of the U.S. health care system. By equipping patients and clinicians with the information needed to make joint medical decisions, and by optimizing the system in which the patient/clinician team makes these decisions, CER can improve the quality, safety, and value of care delivered while increasing patient satisfaction. [16] By passing ARRA, Congress recognized this vision and the need for CER, and also highlighted the need for an unbiased, cross-functional Council to “foster optimum coordination” of the Federal Government’s CER efforts.”

Nothing scares me more than these sheet-wearing Nazis in the White House who want Soros' utopian managed and totalitarian I might add, society and their friends the Mao-the-Murderer-worshippers.

When wackaloons like this have promised the stupid lemmings so many things and those lemmings fall for it, we have trouble...and we fear the government.

Keep yammering about corporate funded buses, but there were not any... and you have no proof there were.
Sadly you don't mind the OFA/SEIU/ACORN and John Podesta astroturfers who get their money from the Nazi-Enabler George Soros and his TIDES foundation? Or the Rockefeller foundation, one-worlder CREEPOS?

You can yammer all you want about buses and yet you haven't one shred of evidence there were any.

The stupidity and the hypocrisy of the posters here is BREATHTAKING.
