WorldNetDaily cashes in on murder of US troops

November 06, 2009 2:02 pm ET by Jeremy Schulman

In its "exclusive" and completely false report that the Fort Hood shooter "advised Obama transition," WorldNetDaily exploits the murder of American soldiers to sell books smearing Muslims.

Near the end of the WND article, "senior staff reporter" Jerome Corsi takes the opportunity to plug a book published recently by World Net Daily Books and co-authored by professional Islam hater P. David Gaubatz. Corsi writes:

According to an explosive new book, "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America," Hasan is just the tip of a jihadist Fifth Column operating within the ranks of the U.S. military - which is too blinded by political correctness to see the threat.

At the bottom of Corsi's article is a "special offer" to "Get 'Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America,' autographed, from WND's Superstore." That "offer" links to the "WND Superstore," which sells Muslim Mafia at the "discount price" of $22.95.

Can't WorldNutDaily get sued over this? I'm not an attorney but this is over the top.

If you read their regular articles, this is actually some of the tamer stuff. We are talking about birthers here. They are the most polically fevered and desperate people on the planet. There is no logical fallacy they are willing to avoid and no "truth" they are willing to fact check.

The bottom line in every quarter of the right-wing establishment is money. MONEY! Pure and simple. Think about that for a minute.

Right wing media is profitable. Fox News. Limbaugh, Coulter, Beck, Malkin, O'Reilly, and Corsi make good money catering to the right-wing. While Air America and PBS struggle to survive.
(BTW--you can predict what trolls will try to make of this statement)

Conservative politicians exist to protect and nurture corporate profits. Their legislative history proves it. Try and recall legislation, any Republican sponsored and passed legislation from the first six years of the Bush administration, that did not support or boost corporate profits. I can think of many that did just that. In the miniverse of the Party of No, unregulated markets and tax cuts benefit the rich. Just enough money trickles down to keep people quiet and voting to sustain the status quo.

The attempts to destroy Health Care Reform, ACORN and unions like SEIU are driven by an obsessive need to remove all obstacles to unrestrained profits. Unfortunately social justice and profit motive are antithetical.

What is the engine that propels this agenda of greed? Right-wing media.

Strip away all the layers of ideology, power, rhetoric, deception, and militancy.....and you just find MONEY!

Anyone who has worked with or has friends in the US military will see the line about the military being blinded by political correctness, and laugh their heads off. The military tends to be a very conservative bunch, for all kinds of reasons (not the least of which, conformity and trusting your leaders are military values that keep you alive and help your unit accomplish their objectives). Politically correct? The Army? Bwaa haaa haaaaa.

You can tell just how extremely politically correct the U.S. and its military is towards Muslims by the way we invade and occupy their countries.

Our local paper in Austin mentioned that this shooter had tried to get a discharge due to religious "hazing". Being a resident of the area, I would be curious about he specifics of that before any rush to judgment. Not to excuse his actions at all, but this man may have been in mortal fear for his life.

Wait a couple weeks, this'll probably drop to the same price.

I have (in archive) a LOT of Wing Nut Daily offers, not only on books and caps, but various stocks that are pushed by WND. Just quickly scanning my memory, there are a lot of 'alternative medicine' offers among them.

And conservatiism is supposed to be the political philosophy of the troops...

      ...not.

God, I cannot stand idiocy like this. Is it any wonder that this country is beginning to shift to the Liberal side in Politics?
