Is it uncontrived or is it heartfelt? The stunning lack of verbal intelligence of the people who pass for journalists on the Right is laughable.

        con·trived
        ADJECTIVE:

Obviously planned or calculated; not spontaneous or natural; labored: a novel with a contrived ending.

So, which is it, genius? Some folks try so hard to use impressive language and only prove they haven't the intelligence required in order to be taken seriously. Yet another in a long list of conservative illiterates.

If you're bothered by the lack of verbal intelligence of this author, please, please, don't go to the link that MMFA provided to her site and read the comments about her posting. Talk about uninformed people with a lack of intelligence! These are people who are so biased against Obama that they can't even listen to him when he makes a very nice speech memorializing the slain at Fort Hood. It's sad that our nation is so contaminiated with voices like theirs.

This is indeed laughably dumb. A teleprompter is as much of a professional tool as a microphone or 3x5 note cards. The tools of delivery have nothing to do with the sincerity of the message. How much dumber can these right wing people get? How much more hateful...?

I could have sworn Teleprompters were standard equipment long before most of us ever heard of Barack Obama (and not just for politics - I saw monitors at the foot of the stage for the Rolling Stones' 2002 tour in case Sir Mick needed to jog his memory as to the lyrics of the songs he co-wrote). I thought even his semi-literate predecessor used one, to the extent he could read.

So why is President Obama the only person whose use of such things is bad?

Don't look for a rational explanation. The right wing is beyond dumb. It's embarrassing for adults to be so stupid...or just so damn mean they'll say anything.

I don't get the obsession with the teleprompter. How is it any different than having a speech written on paper? Should our nations leader just go out there and wing it when he's giving an important speech?

When a speech is written on paper, the reader is looking down all the time. It's clear that the speech isn't off-the-cuff.

I think the issue is that those on the right think that some may be fooled into thinking that a speech on a teleprompter is memorized, or that there's no written text at all, and it's off-the-cuff since there isn't physical or visual evidence that the speaker is reading something.

And for people 'fooled' by the use of the teleprompter, that might make the user of the teleprompter, in this case, Obama, look like either a better memorizer OR like a person who has a great ability to make cogent and articulate off-the-cuff comments.

I think this is what it's about - that they want to make sure that everyone knows that he's not making unscripted comments, because if he were, he'd be even more impressive!

What person who often gives important speeches in which words are critical would NOT want to use a teleprompter? All Presidents use a teleprompter. This is so lame...

Hell, I say if she didn't use a quill pen, then she is a hypocrite. Six months ago called, they want their talking point back.

I thought it was one of the best presidential moments of my life.

Looking around through a clear-screen teleprompter is a helluva lot better than hunching over a piece of paper.

Don't get too hung up on Geller. She's a flash in the pan and not worth risking our ethics on.

There are equal idiots on the left.

BACK to the teleprompter again. This tells me one thing is for certain. Even when they can't find something wrong with what Obama did, they have to, you know, try to find something wrong with what Obama did. He spoke at the memorial for the people tragically slain by a psychopath, and I heard the speech, it was great, and it was heartfelt, but oh no!

      HE USED A TELEPROMPTER!

      HOW DARE HE!

      These people are freakin' morons.

but isn't that really what the morons are all about..? Obama makes a great.. moving.. relevant speech about a tragic moment in our lives..and they try to change the focus to the mechanics of giving the speech..

it's a simple plan of disrespect and a failed attempt at marginalizing the president..and should be called out for what it is..disgusting..un-patriotic..vitriol

add geller to the ever growing bonehead list..
