UPDATED: NYT Report: Lou Dobbs Leaving CNN
November 11, 2009 6:40 pm ET by Karl Frisch
The New York Times' Media Decoder blog reports:
Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose anti-immigration views made him a TV lightning rod, plans to announce Wednesday that he is leaving the network, two network employees said.
A CNN executive confirmed that Mr. Dobbs will announce his plans on his 7 p.m. program.
Mr. Dobbs informed his staff members of his intentions in a meeting Wednesday afternoon. He did not immediately respond to a telephone call seeking comment.

UPDATE:
Dobbs makes it official: Under pressure, Dobbs announces his resignation from CNN

What's next, Mr. Dobbs?
"His next stop could be the Fox Business network. Dobbs met with Fox chief Roger Ailes to discuss a potential position."
He couldn't take the heat he started, so he got out the kitchen!
~
I don't care if he leaves in a huff, or if he takes a minute and huff, I'm just DELIGHTED he's leaving!! Perhaps CNN will hire a REAL newsman in his place.
Or, perhaps they will FINALLY make room for Stephanie Miller!!
Starring - Lou Dobbs and Don Imus
COMING SOON.
since i stopped watching him a couple of years ago..i can't say he'll be missed..
Love him or hate him...Murdoch knows how to build ratings for his fledgling channel.
Love him or hate him, Murdoch knows that yet another right-wing, bigoted Obama-hater will build ratings.
And the ones that are don't lie, distort and omit relevant data like the sources on the right do.
And there's never been any attempt here to shut down alternative/opposing views. It's solely to stop the nonsense - to get rid of the poisonous stuff that fouls our national debate. Stuff like death panels for example. There never were any death panels. We should have been able to talk about how good an idea it was to allow people end-of-life counselling, paid for by insurance, that would give them all their options, including every medical option available and the risks and benefits of those, as well as the reasons why those full-blown options might not be the best options for some patients. Right now that counselling isn't always paid for by insurance, and so some don't get it!
But see, when you address it that way, there's nothing to really object to, so those on the right had to invent death panels as a talking point.
This kind of behavior gets repeated time and again.
And no, simply saying that we shouldnt listen to those who spout these misleading, nonsensical and offensive things is ludicrous. It's toxic to our nation, and we have an obligation to stop allowing people who should have no credibility the right to have too much influence over our debates! We need to stop giving them power they don't deserve, and we can't do that if we simply ignore them and hope they go away.
So no, you're about as wrong as one could possibly be. The failures are almost all on your side. Reality has a liberal bias. We want our national debates to have a honest and truthful bias, not a liberal bias.
Limbaugh on his show today will tie the "State run media" to Dobb's departure (firing).
I will enjoy every single glorious day I have until Fox News or Fox Business eventually hires him.
Read that "only the news we elites thing you should hear, that fits our agenda. We won't confuse you with the facts and history of our failed policies. It's about reshaping this country to serve our interest and eliminating individual rights and responsibilities."
