Chris Matthews accidentally denounces Chris Matthews

November 12, 2009 2:54 pm ET by Jamison Foser

Chris Matthews last night:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: You know what we learned from New Jersey? You are not going to win by calling the other guy fat.

PAT BUCHANAN: Of course.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: That is all they had. You're fat. What a ridiculous, pathetic, schoolyard thing that was. Pat Buchanan, Gene Robinson, great to be with the grown ups here.

Chris Matthews' ridiculous, pathetic, schoolyard obsession with weight.

Matthews has become unbearable to watch. The David Plouffe interview the other day was bizzare to say the least. Matthews was arguing with Plouffe about things that happened which Plouffe was present for and Matthews was trying to tell Plouffe what really happened even though he wasn't there. Just bizzare!

I think Matthews is losing some of his marbles to be quite honest.

I'm surprised whenever one of Matthews's guests can manage to get half a sentence out in response to a question without Matthews jumping in and restating the question or trying to answer for him. You can set your watch to it- any guest has roughly four seconds to answer the question, after which he can be expected to be buried by Matthews's virtually nonstop blather.

I guess that's why Buchanan and Matthews get along so well- Buchanan has figured out how to answer in sentences of three or four words, tops. Because the IMPORTANT thing is to let Chris go back to Talking About Chris's Opinion.

I've noticed the interuptions Matthews does on the clips here...

It's pathetic and painful to watch. Maybe he thinks he's being spontaneous and unscripted.

A while back, Chris said to one of his guests, "I'd like to ask you about..." and then went on one of his rants, asking the question six different ways, suggesting several possible answers, etc, going on forever. Then he ended by saying, "But I'm not going to ask you that." The guest looked stunned. Finally he said (rather pathetically) "But can I answer it anyway?"

Matthews probably has ADHD and is possibly bipolar. You can always tell when he hasn't taken his meds on a particular day.

I think he doesn't care what he says, i.e. he can't remember that he contradicts himself or just doesn't care. He just wants to stay on the cathode ray tube as a "mover and shaker." His act is boring.

All you need to know about Chris Matthews can be learned by watching Jon Stewart interview him on the Daily Show, when Chris was hawking his book.
