Fox Nation on Obama:  "Our Most Embarassing President?"

November 17, 2009 9:50 am ET by Media Matters staff

From The Fox Nation, accessed on November 17:

Previously:

Limbaugh joins attack of Obama's bow: "Obama envies these monarchs" and "wants to be bowed to someday"

Echoing a right-wing blog, Doocy repeatedly claimed Obama's bow was unprecedented

On Fox & Friends, Rove decides that Obama's bow was "inappropriate" and evidence of a "world-wide apology tour"

Discussing "bow-gate," Fox & Friends wonders if it's "a reflexive thing" for Obama to apologize to world leaders

...Flag pins, bows, Michelle's belts, teleprompters, sercret communists... Does the right have one legitimate critic of Obama? Or is all this petty nonsense from petty people?

...what's there to be embarrassed about? Oh no, he showed respect to a foreign leader! I'd much rather he tell them they were either with us or against us. That's much less embarrassing.

More embarrassing than starting a war with Iraq with no justification, then being caught lying about it, and then ignoring the fact that you've been caught lying about it?

Hey, remember that we are "AMERICANS", we bow to no one.

If it wasn't for the EXCEPTIONALISM of "AMERICANS" where would the world be now?

      "Obama envies these monarchs."

Rush, there was only one president who envied them. This one. Not Obama.

      "World wide apology tour."

The United States is the most admired country globally thanks largely to the star power of President Barack Obama and his administration, according to a new poll.

It climbed from seventh place last year, ahead of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan which completed the top five nations in the Nation Brand Index (NBI).

"What's really remarkable is that in all my years studying national reputation, I have never seen any country experience such a dramatic change in its standing as we see for the United States for 2009," said Simon Anholt, the founder of NBI, which measured the global image of 50 countries each year.

He believes that during the previous administration of George W. Bush the United States suffered in the world ranking with its unpopular foreign policies but since Obama was elected, and despite the recent economic turmoil, the country's status has risen globally.

"There is no other explanation," Anholt said in an interview, referring to the impact of Obama.

Seems obvious to me that Obama has it right, and Rove, et. al. have it wrong.

I agree, I don't understand why the cons think that other countries liking us is a bad thing. Aren't countries more likely to support us if they like us? Aren't they more likely to provide favorable trade agreements if they like us? We don't need to be this big, bad daddy state that runs around policing the world.

Yeah, already been debunked. He was preparing to help the woman in the print skirt step down, as he had realized how big a step it was.

Now, the French President? He was a-lookin'. But not President Obama. If you see the video, it's clear. This is a deceptive photo, taken out of context, much like your side often takes comments out of context.

If GWB received even a small fraction of the scrutiny that Obama gets, thousands of US troops would still be alive today.

I would have thought FOX's audience would expect a black person to bow before pretty much everyone.

Not at all -- Fox viewers expect a black person to bow to WHITE people, not Asian people.

You see, Fox viewers have a very stratified view of race.

        I can understand Fox's embarrassment. I mean, look at the guy;

He's relatively young, BFF with an unrepentant terrorist, went to a church with a preacher who videotapes his sermons saying things that are scary and hard to understand for old white racists. He's black, for Jeebus sake !

And Fox, with the help of most of am radio and a lot of mainstream media, spent a good year using all of their power trying to keep him from being elected president. They even ran a veteran/POW and a spokesmodel designed to do nothing but rile up the far right fringe against him, and they still failed. That is an astounding level of being out-of-touch and incompetent on the part of Fox.

        That's gotta be f***in embarrassing.

Especially in their role as king maker after essentially bringing down Clinton in his years. They got a little puffed up and didn't think it would ever end (think of Herr Karl's brag of a permanent Repub majority). Yeah, it's embarrassing to have that happen. So back to throwing Seannie and Glennie and sometimes Billo/Lou at the admin and making up scenarios. Cylon, cylon.

The biggest embarrassment would be George W. Bush. He's such an embarrassment that I have never used the word "president" along with his name, because that's a term of respect and I have no respect whatsoever for that alcoholic, coke-snorting, deserter/war criminal.

Yah, that's about a zillion times more embarrassing than when Bush declared a crusade against Islam.

And man.. Those photos of Prime Minister Merkel's 'back rub' aren't just embarrassing, they're creepy. Bush looks like a zombie.
