Does LA Times' Andrew Malcolm want to be Sarah Palin's flak?

November 17, 2009 10:45 am ET by Eric Boehlert

He already served time as Laura Bush's flak, so maybe GOP lapdog Malcolm is eying a return to the Republican payroll. His crush on Palin is quite obvious this week, although Malcolm's reading comprehension skills seem suspect as ever.

Get a load of this headline:

Going berserk over 'Going Rogue;' Democrats' reaction to Sarah Palin book and publicity

According to Malcolm's astute reading of the political landscape, it's Democrats who are going "berserk" over Palin's book. And how many "Democrats" does Malcolm quote in his piece? Yeah, that'd be zero because, as everyone else but Malcolm realizes, Democrats are pretty much sitting the Palin thing out this week and gleefully watching as Palin pits Republicans vs. Republicans as they conduct another bloody round of the 2008 Blame Game.

Always desperate for a partisan spin, Malcolm, as is his custom, just makes stuff up and claims Democrats are going "berserk" over Palin's book. But oops, Malcolm doesn't actually quote a single Democrat to prove his point.

Malcolm and Palin could make a perfect pair.

UPDATED: What's Malcolm's proof that (nameless) Democrats are going "berserk"? The fact that the DNC has sent out some emails containing links to Palin-related news stories. Oh brother. This is lame even by Malcolm standards.

To an extent, MMFA is going berserk. He could have quoted MMFA. Sit this one out and let her implode. MMFa is not telling us anything we don't already know.

I dispute that. Comprehensive monitoring and correction of conservative misinformation in the media means the book would've been covered. On top of that, Palin's spent the last month appearing anywhere she could find a camera to stump for the grand reveal of her magnum opus, spewing misinformation by the bucketful each time. So, naturally, all that got covered here.

-- Democrats are pretty much sitting the Palin thing out this week -- Boehlert

      What a gas...

mmfa inks 19 stories on Palin from Nov.14-16...one can only wonder how many stories they would have written if they weren't "sitting out this thing".

19 stories in 3 days? That's pretty much a definition of going berserk.

Does Boehlert even read the stories that are published by his employer? Apparently not...LOL.

In what sense is media analysis "going berserk?" Isn't that what MMFA seeks to do here? You've been posting for years, why would you call this berserk after all the "misinformation" that the "liberal" media perpetuates? Grasping at straws, yet again.

right, since when is it a story to catch a high profile politician, oops i mean blogger, in outright falsehoods? 19 stories is pretty good when you compare that to the 18 most eggregious falsehoods in her "book":

        http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/17/going-rogue-the-18-bigges_n_359837.html

I dare you to read that story and come back smiling about your pin up presidential candidate.

Oops! Wesley thought he was reading the DNC website ... This is MMFA, my friend, not the Dem's website ... check the URL bar at the top of your browser ...

Exactly the point I was going to make, mk3872. Has Pelosi brought up the book? Biden? Obama? Representative Franks? No? That's right. No. Very few Democrats in the sense of elected officials have weighed in on this 5 chapter non-wonder.

Now, Rush Limbaugh, de facto head of the Republican party, called it the most substantive policy book he's read. McCain's staff have jumped into the fray to accuse Sarah Palin of lying in the book. But, Democratic voices? Not so much.

Yes, that was the point of MMFA's blog here. But righty trolls here are trying to conflate and group things together as all-things Dem.
