Beck's "Plan": "conventions," meetings with conservative "minds," new book, rally at Lincoln Memorial

November 21, 2009 11:23 pm ET by MMFA Staff

From a letter Glenn Beck posted to his website November 21:

There is much to do, much to learn and time is of the essence. While I will be explaining the entire Plan over the coming weeks and months, I did want to give you a preview of some of the highlights:

- Education is key, and not just for our children. To that end, we will be conducting a series of conventions. These will be full-day experiences where you will be immersed in learning about topics ranging from self-reliance, community organizing, the economy and how to be a political force in your own neighborhood and country. The first one will be in Orlando at UCF Arena on March 27th. You will also be able to vote to have a convention in your region by clicking here.

- I have begun meeting with some of the best minds in the country that believe in limited government, maximum freedom and the values of our Founders. I am developing a 100 year plan. I know that the bipartisan corruption in Washington that has brought us to this brink and it will not be defeated easily. It will require unconventional thinking and a radical plan to restore our nation to the maximum freedoms we were supposed to have been protecting, using only the battlefield of ideas.

- All of the above will culminate in The Plan, a book that will provide specific policies, principles and, most importantly, action steps that each of us can take to play a role in this Refounding.

- On August 28, 2010, I ask you, your family and neighbors to join me at the feet of Abraham Lincoln on the National Mall for the unveiling of The Plan and the birthday of a new national movement to restore our great country.

...well, gee, Glenny, why not now? Why not kick things off now so you can get ahead of the Republican primaries, since your non-partisan effort apparently also doesn't care for the Republican party? Why wait until August of next year, when the primaries are already over and you can turn your attention to Republican candidates who are already on the ticket? It's almost as if this isn't some radical new movement in this country, but an attempt to get Republicans elected to public office. What a radical concept!

Even so, I feel confident that THE PLAN will doom the entire progressive movement and force us all into labor camps where we will make guns for the Swiss Family Palin. U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A

Ah, so it is just another plan for lining his pockets. Apparently Becky has learned well the lesson of P.T. Barnum.

          Al Gore never suckered anyone.

I'm sure there are some democrats who have, but since you whiffed on your first try I get to pretend that there aren't.

Um, yeah. Al Gore has a 40-year get-rich-quick scheme. He hatched it when he took his first climate science class in college back in the 60's.

Indoctrination. No wonder Glenn Beck was screaming about President Obama talking to the school children. He was afraid Obama was trying to steal his idea. I am all for freedom of speech, but how is Beck continually allowed to talk about taking over the country. To me, all this "Plan" stuff is something to let Beck take control.

The word "Nuremberg" comes to mind.

Why embarrass Abraham Lincoln by having this rally near him?

Mmm, sounds like indoctrination to me????

      "I am developing a 100 year plan."
Mmm, sound like the old Russian 5 year plans???

"I ask you, your family and neighbors to join me at the feet of Abraham Lincoln on the National Mall for the unveiling of The Plan and the birthday of a new national movement to restore our great country."
Mmm, wants the families to attend. Indoctrination of our children???

Where have I heard about the evils of this type of stuff? Give me a few minutes, it will come to me......

Beck's premise is that progressives began infiltrating both parties a hundred years ago to create a socialist utopia. I'm sure it's just a statistical glitch that the culmination of this infiltration has resulted in both our parties being more conservative than the whole world.

On this infiltration business, was not this spoken of in the last century, but it was the Jews who were doing the infiltration, etc etc etc. Never happened. But this Beck is espousing so much hate.

      Education is the key.

Maybe these Beckerheads should try living without the things they take for granted that are a result of progressives, not their mythical "free market" system.

I sampled the videos of Beck's little rally at the Springfield Retirement Home with the sound off.

He kept putting his right arm up. I'm not sure if he was blocking the sun, making a point or imitating an early twentieth century paper hanger.

Third valueless observation by the dork.

Wow, the originality is seeping from you [sic] pours [sic].

At least when we make Nazi comparisons, we're not getting the political spectrum completely backward. No one is saying that everyone on the far right is a Nazi, but everyone who understands the topic knows that the Nazis belong on the far right.

Exactly . . . he is a man of limited intellect who was playing a game for ratings . . . now he's believing his game. He's very dangerous . . . but the people who've believing his schtick all along are the ones who will start acting on it and they are deadly.

You are right bintx we are living in dangerous times, but with danger there is opportunity and hope for real change. The thing is our political structure is so compromised with massive corporate money the change that is needed might not be bold enough leaving many on so-called mainstreet in the dust not benefiting and open to demagogues like Beck.
