Newsbusters blows the lid off scandalous Thanksgiving coverage

November 25, 2009 12:20 pm ET by Jamison Foser

This one's just strange: Newsbusters' Carolyn Plocher is upset that network morning shows have offered tips on how to avoid excessive Thanksgiving calorie consumption:

In the past week, from Nov. 18-24, five network stories have bashed traditional Thanksgiving food because it's not "healthy." With the nation in a recession and the unemployment rate above 10 percent, the media want Americans to worry about their waistlines too. Each of the networks offered tips on how to avoid the "most gut-busting holiday of the year," as Harry Smith of CBS's "Early Show" put it Nov. 19.

What a bunch of monsters!

Seriously, this is the right-wing media critique: Whining about the Early Show offering advice on how to avoid over-eating at Thanksgiving.

What's even more pathetic is a guy like Jamison Foser -- supposedly highly-paid media critic and sought-after Democrat hack -- has to spend his day blogging about Newsbusters.

Oh the humiliation of it all.

What's even more pathetic is a guy like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity (take your pick) -- supposedly highly-paid media performer sought-after Republic hack -- has to spend his day ranting about the liberal media.

Oh the humiliation of it all.

PS - Cheney, it's Democratic hack ... DEMOCRATIC, but you know that already ... don't you?

          Sure, he knows.

As we have seen over and over, they like to shorten Democratic to Democrat, like we enjoy shortneing Republican to Idiot.

Idiot may be short, but it does have 3 syllables. Can't you come up with a word that doesn't involve 3 syllables, after all 3 syllables is pushing the envelope.

And even more pathetic than that?

That Cheney2012 was in such a hurry to see his lame comment posted that he had to hit "Save" three times.

Could be worse. He could be a right-winger trolling at Media Matters.

This is typical of the Troglodytes... ever vigilant for something to whine about.

Perhaps we Secular Humanists should protest because, every single year at this time, U.S. News and World Report comes out with a special issue about "The mysteries of Religion" or some such drivel.

We could complain, but we don't, because we know that the solution, if we object, is to NOT BUY THE MAGAZINE.

      What a concept.

You do not get it. There is a problem when one network forces the others to cover non news as news based on their opinion people. That is part of what FOX does.

Actually, the REAL problem is that the other networks are such spineless wimps.

          It is, and I don't.

The difference is that the misinformed droolers who do watch it have the ability to saddle me with a Troglodyte President.

Nobody can make me buy U.S. News.

Back to the subject of this Troglodyte's rant: There is nothing new here. Every year, you can count on sappy little news stories about 1. Thanksgiving weekend traffic 2. Crowded airports on Thanksgiving weekend 3. How packed the stores are on Black Friday and.... 4. How to avoid overeating during the holidays.

Is this now part of a nefarious "Liberal War on Thanksgiving"?

I think that the further time goes by, the more illogical and rabid the right-wing becomes, attacking anything that may dilineat from their views of main-stream culture; or at least how they feel it should be covered.

After looking at the videos of the various recess town halls, tea bagger and 9/12 events, I'd say whatever efforts the media are making to keep folks from eating too much aren't picking up much traction.

Now I'm about two bills myself, and could stand to shed 15 or 20 lbs. But goodness gracious, I saw the creature in the tan suit and backwards collar at the 9/12 event and he looked like he'd just eaten a small child.

I notice that too, Newzhound, there is some "girth" going on among the teabaggers. I'm over my fighting weight which is around two bills, but I sometimes hang out at the wingnut rallies just because I like being asked if I'm a model.

the wingnuts must be paranoid about how the media is telling them what to do now, just like president obama supposedly is. wasnt there some ridiculous conspiracy theory floating about that obama wants to control how much food we eat? lol... that was classic wingnutery.
