Human Events' "Al Gore Snowman Contest," will award prize to snowman resembling "the chief poobah of global warming baloney"

February 08, 2010 9:46 am ET by Media Matters staff

From a February 7 post at HumanEvents.com:

HUMAN EVENTS announces its first ever Al Gore Snowman contest.  Our friend Amb. Fred Eckert suggested that we award a prize for the best snowman made to look like the chief poobah of global warming baloney, former Vice President Al Gore.

With Washington digging out of a near-record snowfall, it's only appropriate to (dis)honor the principal perpetrator of biggest fraud since the UN's Oil for Food scandal. (That one, after all, only cost about $30 billion.  The global warming "cap and tax" legislation will cost much more.)

Once you've dug out, please take your best shot.  Send us a picture of your snowman. The best one will receive $50 and an autographed copy of Jed Babbin's "In the Words of Our Enemies," the "Cliff notes of evil."  Deadline is 9 am Wednesday, 10 February.

This contest will make perfect sense provided that the snowman is delivered to Vancouver before the Olympics.

Wonder why these skeptics keep wanting to see the data, and verify that the peer-reviewed stuff really is peer-reviewed.

I wish they would just trust us, stop asking questions, and just hand over their money.

        Jeesh! Facts, Smacts...

Media matters is like an old busy body who sits in the corner at the church banquet knitting and eavesdropping on other people’s conversations making mental notes about who is going to hell. She can’t wait to get to the bridge game to start the gossip. Better yet, media matters is the whiny little tattletale in the second grade that no one likes (including the teacher). “Mrs. Smith! Bobby called me fat!” “Mrs. Smith! Those girls won’t let me play with them!” “Wah!” Grow up already.

I'm not a scientist but I do know that changes, drastic changes, in temperature will happen while 'global warming' begins. Here in the northern hemisphere we are experising cold, in the southern hemisphere they are getting records heat waves and droughts. Our summer will be hotter than normal.

Unfortunately being proven right will not make anyone happy. What will future generations think of us. When we had a chance to do something and instead we stuck our collective heads in the sand? We certainly won't be celebrated as the "greatest generation".

Global warming aka climate change is PROVEN by these abnormal weather events, not disproven. Stupid, stupid people.

Typical idiot think. It's cold outside my door so global warming is not real. Wait for the Olympics next week when the world sees no snow on the ground in Vancouver. They are trucking it in on huge dump trucks.

These people are pea-brains who appeal to other pea-brains with cartoonish snark like this. In time, they'll join the Flat Earthers and Evolution Deniers in the dustbin of history. Unfortunately, they may do a lot of damage before that happens, if they prevent progress toward stemming man's damaging impact on the climate.
