Didn't Rush Limbaugh ever learn to share?

February 09, 2010 3:02 pm ET by Eric Boehlert

To prove how profoundly dumb Les Kinsolving's WND "exclusive commentary" (love that part) is, I'll simply flip in on its head.

Here's the Kinsolving headline

Didn't Katie Couric ever learn to share?

And the lede:

America is still known as "The Land of Opportunity."

And this made me wonder why CBS' anchor lady, Katie Couric, has not, reportedly, offered to share some of her income to save dozens of her fellow CBS employees - whom the New York Observer and the New York Post, among others, reported are being laid off.

Ms. Couric, reports Drudge, is, instead of any such helping of her fellow employees, facing "a dramatic pay cut at the network."

But the New York Times quoted CBS News President Sean McManus denying any such Couric pay cut.

The Drudge Report noted that she is "the highest-paid TV news personality in history" and "commands over $14 million a year, plus bumps for non-evening news appearances."

Think about that.

The sum $14 million equals, for a 40-hour week, $70,500 an hour; $1,175 a minute; and $19 per second

Yikes! Couric makes a lot of money at CBS. And yet dozens of CBS employees have been let go recently. Therefore, conservative Kinsolving, suddenly embracing a socialism/communism hybrid outlook, suggests Couric should take her salary and give it to CBS employees.

Okay, but here's the thing. Kinsolving's beloved AM talker Rush Limbaugh, makes way more money than Couric working for Clear Channel radio. And in recent years, it's no exaggeration to say Clear Channel, as it goes through a slow-motion demise, has fired tens of thousands of employees.

So based on Kinsolving's 'logic,' Limbaugh should "share" his earnings with the radio vets, right?

Right?

"The sum $14 million equals, for a 40-hour week, $70,500 an hour; $1,175 a minute; and $19 per second!"

How exactly does that math work?

$70,500 per hour * 40 hours per week * 50 work weeks per year = $140 million, not 14 million.

In Tea Party Math class they teach that multiplying by a factor of 10 or 25 is required when you want to make a point. So if 70,000 people show up for a demonstration, you can truthfully state that 2 million people showed up. Did you not take that class?

I took the class but I rarely paid attention. Before quizzes I would just scribble the answers on the palm of my hand in black ink.

Hey, you could have become the leader of the Tea Party Movement. If only you would have known. Darn, what missed opportunity.

Even if it was 4.5 hours per week (5 broadcasts * 30 minutes), it still doesn't add up.

Good catch, Vysotsky. Fortunately, there are some well-funded right wing groups debunking all mathematics at this very moment. It's way too biased.

WND just hates Couric cause she showed everyone how much of an idiot Palin is. So they're grasping at straws to discredit her.

Someone better tell WND that one of their employees is advocating the redistribution of wealth!

She's way over paid. I'd just give her min wage. All she does is spout DNC talking points. No real journalism there.

Where's your example of Couric spouting DNC talking points? Isn't it just that facts tend to have a liberal bias, and Couric has a tendency to actually report based on facts?

now MiG, that's just unfair. of course he/she has no examples. give me a break. his/her only obligation to the right is to spout some nonsense over and over and over. examples. now that's just downright funny!

seahawks is one of those wingnuts who almost make me feel guilty or sadistic for laughing at them.

Then I notice that he doesn't seem to read or understand any of the items here, the other comments, or responses to him. So I feel ok, as it's impossible for somebody to be embarrassed when they have absolutely no clue as to how embarrassed they should be.

Well, gee, by your reckoning, Fox could be operated on a shoestring, since they don't just spout GOP talking points, they quote them, verbatim (including spelling errors).

Why don't they just do a live feed from Michael Steele's office?

Of course he's alright with that, after all it's not his money. Conservatives are very touchy about having their money spread around, but someone elses money? Preferably someone they consider a liberal? Hey, they'll be the first ones in line. Then while they are publicly shouting about the evils of spreading wealth around, they'll privately slink back with their hands out demanding more...

Besides, using Republican math, according RNC chairman Steele, a million dollars really isn't a lot of mony after taxes and all. So 14 million? Pffffttt, after taxes it's not really that much money, right?

All you have to do is look at his waistline to know that Rush never learned to share.

(Please Note: This is satire. I don't comment on other's appearance but I just thought I make a little fun of Rush.))

Won't Kinsolving be embarrassed when he finds out that Couric isn't a liberal. She's a lazy conventional-wisdom bilge factory.

She must have earned her "liberal" cred when she asked Palin what she reads.
