WND's Farah complains that Beck, O'Reilly are pushing their own birther "conspiracy tale"

February 10, 2010 12:58 pm ET by Media Matters staff

From Joseph Farah's February 10 WorldNetDaily column:

I'm accused of being a "conspiracy theorist" because I want to see Barack Obama fulfill his constitutional requirement to prove he is a "natural born citizen."

You know who throws those insults around?

People like Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck.

But get the two of them together on Fox News Channel and you find out who the real conspiracy nuts are.

They think Barack Obama is leading a conspiracy to promote questions about his eligibility status.

"I think the reason they didn't ever produce the birth certificate is because they wanted these loons out there," said O'Reilly in a conversation with Beck.

Apparently O'Reilly forgot, in a moment of rare candor, that he's been peddling the idea that Obama has released his birth certificate.

Beck dutifully jumped in to ensure O'Reilly was sticking to the script: "Hang on. I think he has produced the birth certificate."

"We have a facsimile," O'Reilly asserted. "But I want him to send (the original) directly to me."

[...]

But look at the conspiracy tale the O'Reilly-Beck crowd develop around the birth-certificate issue. They believe Obama is directing a master conspiracy - leading suspicious and curious people like me who insist on seeing the Constitution observed, to serve Obama's political interests.

By the way, I would like to point out that Beck and O'Reilly (along with Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and others) are every bit as obsessed about the birth certificate as I am. They talk about it week after week, without, by the way, introducing any new information. The only difference is that their obsession is providing cover for Obama to keep his personal history secret from the American people, while my obsession is seeing the secrets revealed.

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to believe in the Constitution and to observe that it is being cheapened by Obama, the Washington political establishment and the media every day when they insist that a fundamental, easy-to-understand requirement of the document be simply overlooked.

Point One: The President has fulfilled his constitutional requirements and proven he is a natural born citizen.

      Point Two: See Point One.

If cannot grasp this you are either

      A) An idiot.

      B) A conspiracy theorist.

      C) An idiot conspiracy theorist.

      Hope that clears things up.

It's likely that the "original" birth certificate, which would have been given to the parents, not the infant Obama, was lost or misplaced BY ONE of the PARENTS.

Nowadays, Hawaii doesn't give out replacement birth certificates that look like the original one that his parents got. That would have had a matching one kept by the Vital Records people in the state.

And people HAVE seen the physical copy of the Certificate of Live Birth that Hawaii sent out - a document that was based upon the original record stored by the Vital Records people.

There are NO holes in this evidence. It's air-tight and conclusive. He's a natural born US citizen, O'Reilly. You don't need to have Obama send YOU a physical copy of the COLB.

A lot of people function under the delusion that a certified state copy of the birth record is not the real birth certificate. A lot of these nutjobs want to see the hospital certificate. When I went to get my passports (Official and Tourist) I had to go to the county I was born in and get a certificate that looks a lot like President Obama's, so did my husband. The hospital records weren't good enough. I ordered copies from the state where my daughters were born when they were days old, because I had to get them Social Security Numbers before they turned two.

I have been studying these birthers. Perhaps, they (the birthers) want to see the birth certificate that Obama referenced in his book published in 1995 and not the birth certificate produced by FactCheck and stamped by Alvin Onaka in 2007?

On Page 26 of “Dreams of My Father”, Obama writes:

“I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school,”

I may be wrong, but didn't have to do all of this when he joined the Senate? No one seemed to care where he was born then but now they care for some reason.

Maybe Farah should suggest that Obama should have taken a civics literacy test before becoming President.

They care because he is a black man with a funny name and he's living in THEIR White House. That's just not done, not in their small, bigoted, racist world. If he had the EXACT SAME policies and was a white man named John Smith, they would not be asking for his birth certificate. [Which, I might add, he has PRODUCED and which has been VERIFIED as authentic by the State of Hawaii and their REPUBLICAN governor on NUMEROUS occasions.]

It seems that President Obama is giving Farah's request as much attention as Congressman Deal's letter regarding his BC: None, and I'm in full agreement with the president in taking this position. As an AA, I'm plumb tired of being treated by some of my fellow citizens like an alien from outer space in my own country after 50+ years of putting up with their sh!t.

If the "birthers" are so convinced that Obama was born in Kenya why don't they look at his mother's passport records to see where she was when she had him. Like, maybe in Hawaii.

...but that's all faked, too! His mother simply bribed customs officials with future favors from her son, the President, so that the officials wouldn't stamp her passport when she left the country while HUGELY pregnant to go give birth in Kenya so that she could fulfill her part in the grand conspiracy involving thousands of people over DECADES.

See? It all makes PERFECT SENSE.
