Politico reports "ACORN cleared in Brooklyn: 'No criminality' "

March 01, 2010 3:43 pm ET by Media Matters staff

From a March 1 post by Politico's Ben Smith:

Kings County, New York District Attorney Joe Hynes put out a statement just now:

On September 15, 2009, my office began an investigation into possible criminality on the part of three ACORN employees. The three had been secretly videotaped by two people posing as a pimp and prostitute, who came to ACORN'S Brooklyn office, seeking advice about how to purchase a house with money generated by their 'business.' The 'couple' later made the recording public. That investigation is now concluded and no criminality has been found.

Certainly the right wing, but also anyone in the country with a brain as well. Apparently you may be devoid from this group.

          You've seen right through me.

If I only had a brain I'd be upset that this tax payer funded investigation of ACORN concluded with no criminal charges. If I only had a brain I'd be equally upset that other investigations into ACORN have found no misuse of funds, no illegal activities, and no evidence of voter fraud.

If I only had a brain I'd be howling, alright. Howling about the slander, the lies, and the all too appalling games that have been played by people determined to bring down an organization that has helped the disadvantaged for many years in order to score political points with some intellectually challenged folks who are looking for a boogieman to blame.

But, I'm not howling. I'm laughing. And, at the moment, I'm laughing at someone who allows the Hannitys, the Limbaughs, and the Becks to do his thinking for him.

And just how will "fair and balanced" Teabag TV ( Fox News ) handle this little tidbit of information? Ever notice how ACORN had been in existence all through the Bush administration. But it had never come under the kind of vicious attacks like it has until Obama was sworn in? The GOP will live to regret the day that they embraced crazy so wholeheartedly!

How will FAUX News, we distort, we crap all over democracy, spin this? Doubtless they won't even report it, since there is no way they could distort it to make it look like "criminal conduct" was indeed found.

It's pretty clear how FOX will spin it. The Brooklyn investigation reached the wrong conclusion. They were influenced by socialist propaganda.

What gets me is the public gets to pay for the investigation, which was brought to you by folks who claim to be against government waste.

How will Faux News handle it? Right after Obama elected, Acorn was uttered every other word on that network. I bet my bottom dollar, won't hear a peep about it from them.

Just because they aren't going to jail you want it to be reported that what they did is ethical and worthy of more taxpayer money?
